Guess we'll have a cart in the US Open

Casey Martin qualified in Eugene last night... finished in the dark even.

While I disagreed with the court ruling, I'm happy for the Homey.

He played in the US Open once before -- at Olympic, where he finished 23rd.

Obvious dark horse.

Is gimpy allowed to play regular tour events? I don't recall how the courts ruled on that one. Personally, I think it would have made good business sense to do it. Maybe even say fuggit and let them all ride.

Of course if this is done, I would also make the beercart part of the game. Make them all have at least 3 or 4 pops on each side to make it interesting.

I remember I was torn on that whole deal, but leaned toward letting him ride....the argument from the USGA's side is that use of a cart would give an unfair advantage

when guys like Jack and Arnie were spouting off the USGA needed to "protect the purity of the game" while they stood on the tee with their titanium drivers w graphite shafts, their oversized cavity back irons, and their Pro-V1's, I thought that was the most hypocritical argument I'd ever heard....

if they were purists, they'd still be playing featheries, longnoses, and niblicks

I'm glad he made it, that cat can definitely play

They ruled he could.

But in the course of the following season, his leg gimped up so bad, he didn't do very well, and lost his card as quickly as he got it.

He's quite happy coaching QQMF Golf these days (and they usually do quite well).
