Owners can veto other teams trades?

Laker deal for Paul apparently dies after other owners complain to Stern that they don't want Paul with the Lakers....

I can just see Steinbrenner's Yankees denied free agent signings or trades because other owners didn't want it to happen....

Anyway, giving up Gasoft and Odumb for Paul probably wasn't an ideal swap....save some ammo for Howard.

New Orleans is without ownership, so they are being run by the league which makes it look bad for Stern.

I think Dan Gilbert broke the deal down as a huge payday for the Lakers because they would be saving 20 million is salaries, fall under the cap and also be saving another 21 million in luxury tax over the next two seasons. This would open the door for them to acquire another star player and create another "Big 3".

Normally, the team acquiring the star player winds up paying more money in the deal, not less.

It wasn't "other owners" -- it was Cuban.

And it would be improper for a league-owned team to make blockbuster trades, paticularly to the "haves."

Although Gasol and Odom are proven winners. What has Bitch Paul ever won, besides Whiner Of The Year Award?

....so Paul walks at the end of the season and the Hornets get zero.

I hate the Lakers with unbridled passion.

That said, them being singled out to not be able to improve their team as they see fit, within the rules, seems a little fishy.

Then again, if the Hornets are being "community run" by the other owners, they should have a say in the deals.

Then again, at this point, I think it's inappropriate for the Hornets to make any blockbuster deals, given the current messy situation.

Sell that fucker ASAP... problem solved.

Agreed.

But what would a prospective buyer rather have?

A.) An average team built around a superstar with shaky knees who is bolting at the end of the season.

B.) An average team that just acquired a few decent players and another potential lottery pick.

Absolutely.

NO could have had a whole bunch of potential return, and increased the value of a team that's for sale.

Very fishy, indeed.

As much as I wish death upon the Lakers, it seems like there's a conspiracy to keep them from making moves.

Good move on his part. He wound up with Odom on his team.

Yeah, so far Kupchak is looking moronish...Gets his trade vetoed, so he compensates by giving the 6th man of the year to the Division Champs that kicked his ass last year....for nothing.

IF they don't get Howard or something dynamic, the Lakeshow is ovah.
