Is there anything better than seeing a stadium full of dejected Yankee fans?

Fuck. Yes.

And good night.

Congrats, Shoalzie. Your courage and amazing testicular fortitude allowed you to survive YaJF. Impressive...very impressive.

Good luck from here on out. I'll be rooting for your guys against Texas, and against any team from the NL except maybe Milwaukee.

Thanks and props to you for sticking it out. I've not been through a baseball game like this my team...it was exhausting.

Benoit had a big bandaid on his jaw...looked like it covering big zit or a blister. [AndyReid]I'm obviously not a doctor.[/AndyReid] Girardi had him remove before he started pitching.

How soon until Benoit's bandaid gets a Twitter account?

Rich, coming from a guy who hasn't rooted for a team for more than 3 consecutive months. BTW, why didn't you root for ND when you lived in Elkhart? You know, since it's just about "assimilating into the culture."

Yeah...that bastard deserted the White Sox and Blackhawks when he went to D.C. I'll move to the moon and I'll still root my Michigan/Detroit teams.

I didn't "desert" anyone. I'm sorry you guys live 2.5 hours away from your "teams" while I make a 20 min walk (or 40 if its a Caps game) to see mine. Jealous fucks.

BTW. Are either of you actually from metro Detroit? Or even SE MI?

Really? You have to be in the city limits to root for the team? Well, then I should only root for the K-Wings and WMU, huh? That's stupid. I'm talking about sticking with the same teams you've rooted for since you're old enough to follow sports. I won't crush Van and Dins for pulling for the Yankees if they at least followed them since they were younger. Don't take it personally, dude...damn.

Anyone on the west coast that roots for the Yankees and also roots for west coast football teams are bandwagon and cheap sports fans.

Midwesterners and ex-midwesterns root for the midwestern teams pretty much forever.

Screwey, have long have you even been alive? I mean, you know, at least physically, even if you're not really able to nudge a brainscan needle.

See, I've been an unwavering USC fan for forty years. Pirates/Yankees? 41 for Pittsburgh and probably 39 for NY. The Miami Dolphins? Yep, 40.

Okay, my NBA allegiances have shifted over the years, since I tend to root for players more than teams there. Nate Archibald, then Dr. J, then MJ...nobody in particular since MJ's retirement.

Per usual, you haven't a clue.

Sticking with the same team (when my city doesn't have a team... not even a minor league team as of this year) for 35+ years makes me a "bandwagon"?

I beg to differ -- I'd say it makes you an idiot.

So, you're originally from San Diego? Or are you "bandwagon" and "cheap" (whatever the fuck that means)?

If it makes you feel better, my TV spent way more time on the Ducks game than it did the Yanks.

A couple of other things...

When it comes to October, ARod is absolute MONEY!!!!

And by "absolute MONEY, " I mean "sucks donkey balls."

And in regards to the aforementioned strike zone calls...

that zone was all over the place tonight. Didn't favor one team or another at all, but was radically inconsistant (and was it me, or was the pitch-tracker off by a mile all night?).

If it weren't for '09, wooo, A-Roid might have ended up carrying the label as the worst playoff choke in recent memory.

And how epic is it to be reminded that the Yankees are still on the hook for another seven years and $200 million for this guy?

I noticed too...it was pretty useless during the game. It was probably the least accurate tonight of all the games. The outside strikes looked a foot outside with the pitch tracker. They need to do some more R&D or something with that thing.

At first I thought it was my eyes fucking with me, but then it was "wait... that pitch tailed right, and the tracker showed it crossing the plate (I sometimes wonder if it doesn't show where the catcher caught it) left of where the catcher nabbed it.

Like you allude to, it seems to work really well some nights, and is worthless the next. I wonder if TNT/TBS use a different machine from ESPN.

Anderson even made it a point to mention they're tracking where the ball crossed the front of the plate...which by the book is how a strike should be called. I know they can't shoot directly from center field because the camera can't be in the "batter's eye" but their camera angle can't be that crooked where a pitch looks like it's on the outside corner shows up way outside on their tracker.
