Since you can't count, it's only three.

And prolly the last, 'cause the next one will probably be "Why the Padres are now in second place (part one)..."

I don't know, I've lost interest.

I've switched to searching the web for amateur productions of Fiddler on the Roof.

Damn, 10 in a row now. If this keeps up, it will be known as one of the most epic choke jobs ever. But they still have a 1 game lead and you just never know. It's not like LA has been tearing it up either, only going 5-5 in their last 10.

Watch out for the dark horse Rockies.

Is it possible to go 0 for September?

That would be one for the ages, and would actually pretty cool to witness.

Well, it ain't happening anyway. Still a game up on the Gnats but realistically, in the end, I may have to just be happy beating the Dodgers.

No shit. Too bad they can't just play the Dodgers for the next three weeks, though.

At least I'll be here.

By October I now expect to have shifted my attention completely to football, celebrating a Charger team that's well on its way to another Division championship and quick playoff exit.

The Padres have been playing a little better since their early September collapse, but I don't really hold out much hope with the Reds coming into town for the weekend. That will be a tough series.

If they can possibly take 2 of 3 from the Reds and then 3 of 4 from the Cubs they might be in a good position going into the final series in San Francisco. If they're still in first place after that, then I'll do "part four".

If they missed Cain, I'd say the Padres had a decent chance of sweeping and forcing a playoff. Cain goes tonight, so it looks like scrubs are playing this weekend.

Pretty sure Part 4 ain't happening. Will have to take 4 straight from the Gnats to do it.

In the event that doesn't happen:

When the Giants come to town,
it's "Bye-Bye Baby!"
Every time the chips are down,
it's "Bye-Bye Baby!"
History's in the making
at Candlestick Park
Cheer for the batter
and light the spark!

If you're a fan of Giants baseball,
sing "Bye-Bye Baby!"
If you want to be in first place,
call "Bye-Bye Baby!"
Listen to the broadcast on KSFO
Turn up the volume and hear 'em go.

With the San Francisco Giants,
it's "Bye-Bye Baby!"

My condolences, Mikey.

Baseball is a cruel sport to the fans. I was sorta' rooting for the Pads. 162 games and it comes down to the last day with so many scenarios, none of which worked out for your team.

Would that I would know what it feels like to be in a pennant race again, at least until August.

We weren't expecting anything this season, so first 5 months were a great bonus. The thing that held them together, besides the pitching staff, was clutch hitting. With one of the lowest team BAs they still had one of the highest with RISP, at least through August. That all broke down in the last month. The Pads seem to be getting pretty good at blowing it on the last day of the season when they have a chance.
