I'm no professional analyst -- but with my limited understanding, I'm under the impression that throwing down a 58 means you were swinging the club pretty well.

I used to shoot 58 at Sawgrass in Tiger Woods 2004.

Woods 04 ruled.

But you should be shooting in the 40's on that course.

Depends on whether that was for 9 or 18.

No doubt. That was before EA Sports decided to keep fixing a product that wasn't broken. Once you maxed out your abilities in that game, par was 54 for most courses and shooting a 42 at St. Andrews was not entirely out of the question.

Friend of mine and I used to manually score "birdies win" match play. I.E. you have to birdie or better to win a hole, no accidentally winning by par or worse.
