How'd it get this long, beer review

Post by Trampis »

Leinenkugels Sunset Wheat by the Leinenkugel Brewing Company, the pride of Chippewa Falls Wisconsin since 1867. Carefully brewed by the Leinenkugel family for five generations.(4.9% alcohol)http://leinie.com/sunset_wheat.html

Now that the beer has introduced itself with lineage and dna samples.....I wont go so far as to say it tastes like ass, its drinkable, but not worth buying again. I paid $6.25 for a 6 pack at Winco tonight for it. The flavor is best described as burnt molases with a hint of peach. The website says something about coriander, I dont know what coriander tastes like, but it must taste like this beer.

I do not recomend this beer.

Clearly the legacy of a Nazi experiment gone wrong. The Leinenkugels of Wisconson were notorious.

Sunset wheat tastes like fruity pebbles cereal.

Pretty odd taste for a beer

Here's a seasonal I'm currently stashing sixers of in the basement fridge:

Bell's Hopslam. Tons of hops balanced witha bit of honey in the brewing process. Absolutely awesome beer, surpassing anything produced in the U & L.

Take it from someone who lives in Wisconsin, anything from Leinenkugel sucks.

Rack Bell’s Brewing for helping a choad-slurping, brainless fuckstick find common ground with a jizzmopping, cock-snorkeling paste-eater.

Ah--- Beast Light. It's cheap. You can get 12 cans of it at Publix for $6.99 plus tax. It stays cold in your fridge. It's low in calories. It will give your urinary system a good cleansing. Great for washing down pizza and other snacks. What more can be said ?

There's nothing wrong with Beast Lite if your tastebuds are dead and the rest of your body is soon to follow. It's your perfect fixed income beer. Except that for the same $6.99 you could drink three Hopslams, get a shitload of flavor, and probably more alcohol.

It's worth it. Local place has it for $15.49 a sixer. Their Kenosha store had it for $52 a case.

And New Glarus is the most over-rated microbrewer in the Midwest.

Not bad, but a little too bitter. I don't think it will be replacing Sierra Nevada as my Pale Ale of choice.

I have the beer section at my local Wegmans and the realization that fatherhood means a change in drinking patterns is an imperative. I'm working my way through one sixer at a time. So far my favorites have been Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Saranac Black Forest. But hey, if you have some ideas, let me know and I'll put them on my taste test list.

If you have access to Bell's Brewing products, the Two-hearted Ale is a must. Arcadia Ales (also out of Michigan) currently has a double IPA called Hopmouth that is awfully good. Dogfish Head out of Maryland has some good IPAs. Sierra Nevada isn't bad, they're just moving toward macrobrew status. There has to be better options where you live.

sorry, but no beer i have tried is worth more than $10 a six. really, really, really fukking good beer can be had in these parts for 8-10 bucks. you can even catch them on sale for as low as 6.

i 'spose if i had "88 money", i might drop 16 on a six, but, i doubt it. 16 bucks is about as high as i go....for a 12.

Word. I dropped 11 bucks on a 6er of Bell's Amber last night. That's about as high as I'd care to go for a 6er. Amber is one of my favorite beers, and can't imagine Hopslam is soooo much better that the 5 dollar hike is worth it. I'll give it a shot some time to see what the hype is about but can't see myself purchasing it regularly at that price.

It's just beer? You've obviously never tasted it. Last year I believe I stashed 7 6-packs of that shit at $15 per. It is a uniquely flavorful beer. Honest to God, if it was $25 a sixer, I would still buy 2 or 3. Look at it this way, at $15 per sixer, it's $2.50 a bottle. You'll pay more than that for a bottle of Miller Lite in a bar. If you can find Hopslam in your neighborhood, buy a sixer. If you're not totally satisfied, just say so and I'll have BSmack send you the $15.

I typically drink one bottle of that stuff per day. I also have a stash of a local microbrewer's seasonal pale ale. I might also have one of those. Beer like Hopslam is a really special treat. A 6-pack should last a week. It's on a par with a really good dessert wine. Not that I drink dessert wines, because I'm so totally NOT gay.

beer going bad like that is likely a result of poor brewing/bottling. it should have a fairly decent shelf life unless stored someplace really stupid like a car trunk where it cycles through huge temp changes.
