A massive economic meltdown is inevitable.

Now, it's just a question of whether America wants to incur massive debt to keep the fatcat Ruling Class wealthy, or whether they should go down the tubes along with the rest of us.

Pretty obvious who lines the Senators' pockets now, though. We, as taxpayers, give them a paltry <$200K. The people who are buying up legislation are obviously ponying up a lot more than that.

No, the way we roll here is to put bootlickers and traitors in the ground.
How many times have you rolled that way, and what's your body count?

Don't take mvscal so seriously. It's all in his imagination.

Article I, Section 7:

All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills.

If this current measure now passes the House, couldn't a suit be filed based on the apparent (un)Constitutionality?

I do think we need a revolution!!

The Elected Officials (both Democrat and Republican) have watched this thing coming and did nothing or did not see this coming at all (Which, to me, is unforgiveable).

They will still get paid well, will still get a handsome pension, still get "the best" health care coverage and enjoy tons of other perks while we pay through our noses!

If they don't bail out OR if they do bail out, we (the common m*ther f*cking taxpayers) will be the ones who pay and worry about our retirements and health care.

Kinda' dramatic that, but it's more like the House is what's standing in the way of companies closing their doors and laying off all their employees indefinitely. No jobs, no income taxes.

I love how everyone in their faux outrage acts like the witholding from their paycheck is going to go up or that you'll owe the IRS more on April 1st, 2009 and beyond. It just adds more to the Federal deficit... yeah, go ahead and act outraged by that as well... as if you really give a fuck.

Those that get to keep their jobs will probably owe more than they would've with the alternative.

It must be nice to work in whatever recession proof industry you do mv... the one that apparently allows you to spend your entire workday banging out posts, never having to worry about job security. I mean shit... you've got a sweet deal going there.

What the fuck do you do for a living, anyway? And if you're too much of a pussy to answer that question, go fuck yourself. Anything you type is meaningless.

Local radio hacks were discussing this yesterday. What is the job of the House of Reps ? To vote with the majority of their constituency or vote their conscience.

They take an oath.
"I, (name of Member), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."

Their job is to make intelligent, responsible decisions and not abuse the public trust.
But the responsible, intelligent decisions are often contrary to what the majority of their constituents want. If they make such decisions, they're accused of not being truly representative. If they go along with what those who elected them want, even if imprudent, they're accused of ruling by popularity polls. It can be a no-win situation, and since the goal, from a career standpoint, is re-election, they're more likely to go along with their sometimes idiotic constituents, or just line their pockets by abusing the public trust.

This was not one of those responsible, intelligent decisions. The changes made from failed plan A Bailout to passed Plan B only added pork to the bill to swing enough fence sitters. That is not responsible or intelligent.

RACK.

Bro, you know I'm a Democrat-leaning Independent, but this bailout is complete horseshit.

I'm more disappointed in asshats like Tom Coburn, who right after he voted for this debacle, went right back to holding up a $100 million hurricane and (Oklahoma) flood relief bill.

Yeah, go ahead and vote for something exponentially more expensive that probably won't work anyway, but be sure and hold up that "pork" for storm relief. What a goddamned fucking idiot.

FUCK ME! HARDER!! HARDER!!
Jerk, you really don't get it. It wasn't quasi-socialists who assigned "AAA" staus to the junk-level sub-prime loan bundled bonds, or invented hedge funds, and "ghost futures" being ricocheted off of secret Cayman accounts, and "derivitives" that a physicist couldn't explain, or deregulation scams like those of Keating, Enron, Boesky, Milken, and a thousand other clever kleptocrats. To suggest that capitalism requires morality is a sure sign that you're going to flunk out of any business school or MBA program. Sure, a company can grow and make money with a wholesome and socially responsible business model...but only in the relatively short term.

As far as "socialism" is concerned, it has yet to enter the picture, let alone any serious discussion. It is not "socialism," after all, that has resulted in the catastrophic situation of the world economy.

Didn't Rusp Limpdick tell you this?

The Soviet Union, People's republic of China, The DPRK, etc.

Poland and Albania were shit, but they're just pre-destined to be mongs anyway - BIG SHOCK.

Once you get past the fact that sixty gazillion/billion people were horribly murdered - you'll find a series of countries that were transformed from rural backwaters into modern industrial superpowers, where life expectency shot up, infant mortality dropped, full access to things like drinking water, full employment, full housing, the elimination of illiteracy, full access to medical care, etc. etc.

Not quite as important as a gleaming stock ticker that measures success in an abstact notion like money and banks that fall down and go boom, but hey
