Given these choices and assuming money is the same, who do you take?

1. Mario Williams or Jared Allen?

2. Steve Smith or Wes Welker?

3. Jason Witten or Antonio Gates?

4. Adrian Wilson or Bob Sanders?

5. Brian Westbrook or Clinton Portis?

6. Brian Urlacher or Kirk Morrison?

7. Tony Romo or Carson Palmer?

Tough one between Palmer and Romo, but I go with Palmer for now.

Gates over Witten any day.

Williams is younger than Allen and seems to be a little more level headed, so Williams is the guy.

In a league dominated by "what have you done for me lately".....

Witten: 96 REC, 1145 YDS, 7 TDS
Gates: 75 REC, 984 YDS, 9 TDS

I gotta go with Witten, and just think, he's not even the featured receiver on the team unlike Gates. I don't see it being hands down Gates like MV and Frump seem to think. Let the debate begin.

Gonzo: 99 rec, 1172 yds, 5 TDs - on a 4-12 football team.

What debate?

Thats just it, Gates IS the go-to-guy meaning without any attention being drawn away from him, defenses were doubling up on him. Give Gates a receiver like Owens to play off of and his numbers will go up. Also, Gates was banged up last year for a few games making the "what have you done for me lately" angle meaningless.

I think Chambers getting a full season with SD and Jackson's continued development, you're going to see a monster year out of Gates this year. He offers more athleticism than Witten and is much more dangerous down in the redzone.

Admittedly I see Whitten play 2x a year whereas I might see Gates and Gonzo 1x. There is no question that Gates is the better athlete but Whitten brings a lot to the table for the Cowboys including his run and pass blocking. His pass catching number speak for themselves.

Consider my hatred for the Cowboys and my praise for this guy.... it's a hard thing to do but Whitten is a very good TE and Garret has figured out how to incorporate him more in the passing game. His numbers will not drop off.

Are you finally warming up to Westbrook?

Holy crap jimbo, let me make some room aboard the wagon.

I'm not saying Witten is hands down better than Gates. I just think he brings more to the table and is a better bang for your buck.

Well, that and the fact that with LJ hurt, a decimated O-line, and the only other option at WR being a rookie, they didn't have many "go to" guys other than Gonzo.
Hall of Fame player, though.
FTFY

Get back to me when Gates has over 12+ years in the league playing at a Pro-Bowl caliber level.

More of what...exactly? Certainly not points or big plays. Witten is good, he's just not as good as Gates.
Blocking, toughness, locker room presence, and leadership come to mind.

Are you serious?

How do you know Gates doesn't have that in him?

You are definitely spinning here, DF.

For those pimping T. Gonz, you might consider age.
I didn't set this up as a one year deal.
I just asked who you wanted.
I think you take Gates or Witten over Gonzo at this point.

Oh yeah?

Well you're not auction drafting in the JFFL this year, so your opinion counts for squat.

+1

And yeah, I'd take Witten over Gates every day. He's a 5 tool player with leadership that the team responds to, and that can't be taught. Witten is a HOF player.

How can you tag a guy as a HOFer when he as only played 5 seasons?

Man, look at all that myopia oozing from DF and HH's heads.

Says the king of Myopia.

Was it not you who said Andre Johnson will be on the list of the 10 best all time receivers? And I'm myopic because I think Witten will continue on his course to the hall of fame? Nigga please.

But it's also good to know that TE HOF credentials begin and end with touchdowns. When the fuck did that become the litmus test for a good/great TE? Oh yeah, when you started getting great TE's on teams with no fucking receivers. Gotcha.

So the tight end who scores the most touchdowns is the best TE?

No flaw in that logic.

There is one glaring word that is ommitted from your statement. I said Andre Johnson "will" be on that list 10 years from now.

I would have been more agreeable had you said Witten "will" be a HOFer instead flat out just saying he is a HOFer.

EAD.

Yes, an active player has already been inducted in the HOF. If you couldn't figure out what that meant you should probably deep throat a shot gun. Good lord rumps, are this fucking stupid in real life, or do you make a special effort for us?

You're too stupid to figure out what I meant by that. It's okay, I prepared for this.

What you said is Jason Witten is a HoFer right now which means if his career ended today then he would be a HoFer.

Of course I know you can't be in the HoF unless you've been retired for 5 years.

I'm simply pointing out that anything can happen and you are a dumbfuck.

Who knows, Bennett could come in there and play better than Witten. Or, Witten can suffer a serious injury and never bounce back from it.

But Andre Johnson can't get hurt, and if he does he's still top 10 all time? Talk out of both sides of your mouth much?

Of course dudes could get hurt. every fucking player in the NFL is one play away from injury/paralysis/death.

Got any more brilliant water is wet arguments?

If you're so fucking stupid that you think that when I said Witten is a HOF'er I meant he'd already been inducted or had done enough already , you're a blithering idiot of epic proportions. Got anymore straw men you'd like to trot out.

I mean, really, your argument over the word "will" is really the stuff everyone is tuning in for.

I mean fuck, at least mvs and I are fans of the teams the players are on, so we'll never agree. But your fascination with a debate over who's future forecasting of a players career is less predicated on the 'what if" is fucking genius. Bravo Rumps. You're getting close to your effective running game stupidity. Keep it up, champ. I'm sure you can top yourself.
