Not until the writers are absolutely certain he's retired for good. In Parcell's case, they might just wait a good 4-5 years.

Gibbs is in the Hall and came back...granted, he was out of the NFL for quite a while.

Jim Mora should have waited a day before signing w/ the Seahawks.

I bet he's actually positioning himself to take the Washington job with that move...or maybe when Holmgren steps down, he can coach the 'Hawks.

I hope he goes after Jon Gruden. We'll swap him for some draft picks. Get him the fuck out of Tampa.

Parcells will certainly be missed on the sidelines and in the locker room. However I am not sad to see him retire. I don't know if he's "lost a step" as a coach, but his playcalling of late was suspect at best. The state of the Cowboys will definitely be dependent on the new hire. I don't see this team as disciplined enough to be competitive regardless of the new coach. My long list of hopefuls:

Jimmy Johnson
The Chin
Gruden
Jimmy Johnson
and
Jimmy Johnson

Unfortunately I know thats a pipedream and the likely new hire will be someone like Dom Capers or Jim Fassel. I don't think Jerry Jones wants to start over with a new college coach. He'll want someone who's been there and done that. We'll just have to wait and see......yippee

*snicker*

he and Davis are good friends, which means Parcells isn't dumb enough to take the job.

Why doesn't Jerry take over the Boys? I mean he sucks TO off and can't get off the sideline. Come on Jerry, Parcells left this team in pretty good shape. Surely you could lead us to the promised land.

Certainly not in the Cowboys HOF. Not even among the best Cowboy HCs for that matter.

He was there for only 4 years. Pretty tough to build a "Team HOF" resume in such a short period of time. Thanks for the insight, Captain Fucking Obvious.

If I'm not mistaken, Jimmah Johnson is conspicuously ABSENT from both the Cowboy 'Ring of Honor' and the Cowboy Hall of Fame.

Why .... ?

Brilliant 5 yr career was tooooooo short .... or .... Jerrah can't stomach the thought .... ?

IMHO... both Jimmy Johnson and Tom Landry accomplished more than Bill Parcells did as Cowboys head coach.

It was too short. Maybe he should consider another 5 years and we'll pencil him in.

KC Paul 3.0 wrote:ESPN just floated MIKE MARTZ's name out there for the CowGirl job.....thoughts, DF?
Martz definitely can get a lot out of an offense. See the 2006 Detroit Lions for reference. He molded Kitna into a 4000 yard passer. I could only hope he would bring the same kind of offensive success to the Cowboys. However I think his personality sucks and he certainly wouldn't command the respect that Bill did in the locker room. Therefore I don't think it would be a good fit overall as head coach, but I'd take him in a heartbeat to be offensive coordinator.

I do have to admit, that it would be verrah interesting to see the two swollen heads of Martz and TO coexist. You think last years soap opera was bad......
