MuchoBulls has challenged the picks

ed: better known as The Nolesy Challenge.

We have a winner change. Props to buckeye_n_sc. Due to my input error, sc has 9.5 correct picks. He is now in the Finals and JayDuck is with the rest of us 9 pick saps.

Week 1 results are in.

Props to JayDuck on his week 1 victory. You are now in the Finals. JayDuck had 9 correct picks with a variation of 2. There were 7 people with 9 correct picks however. Here's how the rest fared with their variation in parens: IndyFrisco 9(3), Sky 9(8), buckeye_in_sc 9(14), BlindRef 9(15), RadioFan 9(16) and quacker backer 9(22).

Week 1 of 2006 is by far and away the BEST week we've ever had collectively. The amazing thing is that we had 50 participants this week and we averaged 67% as a group. That's phenominal.

Shouldn't I be at 7.5 since Memphis-Ole Miss was a push?

3!!!! I could use the the game list for paper training my new puppy using the "chicken shit bingo" technique, and do better. WTF!!!

Good thing I only dropped a bet on last night's game.

I think this is the first time I've actually won a week. I've tied before, but always gotten screwed on the score.

Get ready for more dissapointment. Take another look up top. My bad.

Look at the bright side, your streak is still alive.

Indy ... dumb question. What's the variation in parenthesis mean?

Btw, 67 percent collectively is unbelievable.

When everyone picks a combined score of the Game #1, the variation is used to break ties. Therefore, since the combined score of the Cal/Tennessee game was 53 and you put 37, your variation was 16 off of the 57.

Had the original results I posted been accurate, JayDuck's combined score of 51 would hav edged me for first because I put 56 (he wins 2 to 3 on variation off of 53).

It's how we do tiebreakers as we prefer to only have 1 winner each week. At the end of the season, all weekly winners, last season's winner and at large bids are given out for the "Official" Finals. In the "Official" Finals, all bowl games are used, not just 10 games. There is an "Unofficial" Finals. basically, everyone can play, but only the winner of the Official wins the football, should 88 decide to send one out again.

At large bids are determined by those who have the most combined correct picks (who are not weekly winners) and those with the highest percentage based on a minimum of 8 weeks (in case you miss a week here and there but still make solid picks.)

I try to have a total of 20 people in the Official Finals. Anyone who wins more than one week is allowed to have unlimited number of entries in the finals. In other words, if buckeyye_in_sc wins every week, he gets 14 entries in the finals if he hasn't hung himself from a shower rod for not calling a bookie all season.

did I get the .5 due to a tie???

WOW...I didn't know I did that well...woah...

Indy two things:

If I don't pick the tOSU game as is my custom that goes as a loss right away correct?

also you are right I would be hanging from a shower rod if I won 14 weeks straight...

Posted: Tue Sep 05, 2006 9:31 pm
by indyfrisco
The .5 you got was the Memphis/Miss push.

correct...you get the auto loss if you don't make a pick. that's assuming t.u./OSU is game #1 which is likely. Picking a combined score wouldn't "hurt" you in a tiebreaker as you aren't picking a winner per se. Otherwise, you get the customary 999 default if you do not pick the combined score.

To Danimal, Wolverine Steve, Adel, and others that scored at least "5".

With no games having yet been played this year; for the inavailablity of tendencies, styles, underclassmen, new coaches, etc. etc. etc, i.e. no real foundation of data to input on the decision making....it can be suggested that this week's winner(s) merely had their darts land on the right spots......luck.......serendipity.......

Let's see what happens next week........!

None of those were in the Pick'em. We don't put 1-AA games in the pick'em.
