Usually once someone goes off and starts to smack, you lock it up right away.
Jeff, you haven't exactly emerged from the background noise of your own accord...so let's see what you've got.

Go off and start to smack.

if youre trying to goad me into smacking you, well the smack is going to have to wait until you stop smacking the people that keep getting smacked. once that is accomplished, perhaps ill smack you into the next millenium and then some. it must be easy trying to smack when others dont want to smack.

smackfully yours

I remember the thread where it was confirmed that Timmay lived in Nevada... I think. Hell, I was just driving through eastern Oregon... or was it Nevada? Well, anyway that tumble weed wasn't nearly as funny a week ago when I saw it in person.

Well, in the bay area... we refer to anything past the Sierra's as back east. If you look at a map... and check the longitude, it pretty much coincides with Bend.

Edit: Never mind. According to Dead Base, Madison Square Garden by itself has seen more dead shows than the entire state of Oregon.

I'd actually be sincerely interested in those stats. I believe the Eugene stat I heard actually came from Jerry's mouth...for what that's worth( He wasn't known for having the sharpest memory towards the end). Probably pimping hos other home (which was Veneta, little town west of Eugene, also home to Ken Kesey).

Here's the site. I actualy have their Dead Base Jr. paperback which lists every known setlist and a whole bunch of other information that is only useful to stoners looking to settle bets.

http://www.deadbase.com/

BTW: An interview I read with Ken Kesey many years back in Relix was why I initialy doubted your claim about Eugene. Kesey spent a portion of the interview lamenting the scarcity of Dead shows in the U&L relative to California and the East Coast Spring/Fall tour cities.

There's actually some rich local history there.

Too long for me to get into at the moment, but kind of interesting. It was out of fear of those "dirty communist hippies" that they closed the once-again-legendary Crystal Ballroom, after the Dead played there(don't know if that one is on your list, it was a very early show in their history*). They kept it fairly cool, but when they brought the act back to Portland in '77( if my memory is right, it was at the Paramount in 77, which was the first live performance of The Wheel), they were kinda under the gun again. Then, they were pretty much relegated to Eugene, which worked out fine. Right before Jerry dies, they played Portland for the first time since then, and the venue (horse racing track, right adjacent to I-5(not that Autzen isn't also, but different atmosphere altogether)...the venue sucked ass. Seen Metallica there a couple of times, and it sucked for them, as well. Oddly enough, those are the only two bands I've seen when the temps were in the triple digits...had the pleasure of seeing the Dead on the hottest day in the history of Eugene...40,000 people there, 1200 were treated for heatstroke...awesome).

There's a story behind all of that stuff. But fwiw -- the Crystal has been returned to its former glory after all of these years. Incredible club(which is probably why the indie bands move here from all over the country, so they can hang out at the Crystal). Long live "The Trampoline" (only those who have been there will probably understand the Trampoline nickname...the floor bounces, by design).

rack the trampoline.

the crystal and lola's are both great places to hang and play, if you are in a band or what have ya.

I would not want to be playing there when a fire broke out. A perfectly good Les Paul may have to go through a window and onto burnside

IF my memory serves correctly (BWAHAHAHA), that's a show I had a taoe of (can't find it now, or anything). IF it's the one I'm thinking of, it's one of the better ones I've heard. Don't even remember the set, but it was off-the-hook.

If it's the one I'm thinking of.

If you threw it hard enough, the faggots on Vaseline Alley would soften the blow.

There is kind of that one drawback to the Crystal -- you only need to take about 3 steps off Burnside before it gets really faggy, really quickly. I don't really vare what other men do with their peepees, but I don't need to see them yanking each other around on dog leashes in their assless chaps and shit, either.

To be honest, I'm neither a heroin addict nor homosexual, so I have little need to bump down the street behind there. Gotta drive down it to get to the I405 ramp, and it's pretty....light in the loafers.

Don't get me wrong -- my thug-ass knows every nook and cranny of Downtown....I just don't know every nook and cranny of it's male residents.

we always have to park back there if no spaces are open in front to load in. carry all the shit around the corner and into that telephone booth ERRRRRRR elevator.

we'd be sittin in the van taking rips before a show at Lola's and a big line of fags/tards/horseaddicts are staring at us while they wait for some 'done.
