Stanford vs Washington State

Post by Mikey »

After consecutive disappointing losses to the powerful UC Davis and Oregon teams, the Cardinal got back into the win column with an impressive 24-21 drubbing of the Cougars yesterday, their first conference victory since October 16 of last year.

Star QB Trent Edwards solidified his standing as the team's most valuable player with a career day that included 257 yards passing and an additional team leading 92 yards on the ground. The Cardinal defense was also solid, holding the Cougars' Jerome Harrison to 218 yards on 29 carries.

With just a single conference loss heading into the meat of the schedule, Stanford is in a good position to make a run at the regular season conference title with games remaining against California, UCLA and USC. Games against the two obviously out-manned Arizona teams should give some of the injured Cardinal time to recuperate and also serve as good preparation for the game against UCLA on October 29.

I'm just trying to "represent".

Is it OK for me to post in other threads now?

The Cougars just flat suck out loud. A good high school team could beat them-maybe not all the good. Typical Cougar cycle--about 3 years with a total of 10 wins and maybe none against a D1 team, then we'll have enough of the LA black knights beat prop 48 and they'll play for the title, only to Coug It to the UW Willingmvscals. By that time Mike Levenseller will be the head stick. You got to Bill Doba if for no other reason that he's not Mike 'Roooooooolllllllllll Tide' Price. If nothing else, listening to the venerable Bob Robertson do Cougar games is worthwhile even if they have Cougar traitor Jim Walden doing 'color.'

My dad is about a 1950 or so Cougar grad and we've been through it all. When the Cougs went to the 98? Rose Bowl with Ryan Leaf and Mike Price he thought he could finally die in peace. Red Sox fan has nothing on Cougar fan when it comes to being a long suffering, no hope having, defeat snared from the jaws of victory son of bitch.

So...Harris will probably own Willingham again. I suppose the annals of PCdom would have it such. Willingham rates high, as a wronged African-American coach...but Harris outranks him, as a diaper-wearing, lisping, grandmotherly position coach. Wronged, too.

Not too old to stick his snout into things. You can blame/credit the Harris hiring on Walsh.

Walden is seen by some of the Cougar faithful as a traitor for leaving Pullman for well, anywhere. He is not seen in the same light as Warren Powers who stayed one year, and Dennis the drunken Irishman Erickson who stayed two. These asswipes begat Mike Price whose principal positive trait is that he wouldn't EVER leave.

Rack

Except the part about no hope. We have hope, and that is usually our undoing.
Why would a thread about Stanford and Washington State be on the College Football board?
Maybe because WSU had 10 win seasons in 1997, 2001, 2002, and 2003.
