I'm doing fine myself, IF. How do you define long term and have you any solid evidence other than "yeah, IF. I would stay at least four years if you hire me." I thought IT was pretty recession proof, what makes you think these guys wouldn't take another better job when it comes around?

I get your point, but welcome to the 21st century, dude. Not job hopping isn't guaranteed and you know it.
Being in a big city (Dallas) and a small one in Southern Indiana, I know what to look for. In Dallas, there's no way to know if someone is a job-hopper or not. Then again, the talent pool is full. In a small town like this (10k people) with a $1.2 billion company, we look for talent that is not only good but is willing to stick around for awhile.

I was hired over a MUCH more qualified Indian because they knew I wanted to be here. This was my final destination. So, big city vs. small town is apples and oranges when recruiting talent. In the city, yo hire who is most qualified (as long as they fith the AA mold). The kid I will most likely hire I know is from here. His girlfriend in college is from here. I have a good feeling he will want to be here long term. If not, so be it. But I'd rather roll the dice on an inexperienced kid with promise than some dothead who is out of work who will bail as soon as he gets another opportunity.

By the way, white males are about the most discriminated group in the workforce. I'm in the process of hiring someone and was told that I need to give a few Indians consideration for this IT job. I won't fucking hire one because we've hired 12 in the last 7 years. All 12 got 2-3 years experiece and jetted off to new jobs. We spent 10s of thousands in training for those dotheads. Not again. I will talk to a couple, pretend I can understand them on the phone, thank them for their time and tell them to go eat a curry dinner.

I'm hiring a white male. I already know that. Why? Because two of the three strong candidates are white males. Third is a white woman, but she's 52 years old and I'm not putting 25k into training on an old woman. She would probably be the most productive in the first 2 years, but she won't be here long term. So I'm going with the young white male who will no doubt be with the company long term.
She won't be there long term? Did she tell you that? Jesus, why don't you just turn her into Soylent Green?

The prize doesn't have to do with peace.

What it has to do with is a group of people (who's interest is in elevating other parts of the world at the expense of America) giving an award to a person who they recognize to have an agenda in line with theirs.

B.O.'s agenda is hurting American prosperity.
Why is our president doing things which hurt America prosperity?

He's incompetent?
He's dumb?
He doesn't care?
He wants to?

Whatever the reason may be, the Nobel Euro trash verrah much likes and encourages it.

Hence the award.

Same as with Al Fraud Gore.

He moves to neuter the United States with his global warming scam.

Ignorant sheep go along with the nonsense.

The Nobel committee jacks to it.

It is what it is.

Well, we all agree the far left (Mikey, BSmack, etc.) will suck him off on whatever he says/does.

Healthcare, IMF loans, Gitmo, War....these are other issues as I pointed out below.
Why couldn't he get the shitty Plan bill through? Even Democrats were opposed to the initial version of the bill. Even Democrats were critical of his initial request for the $100 billion IMF "loan" (as if we are in the god damned position to loan $100 billion to anyone). Why is Gitmo still open? Why have our troops not been pulled out? He does not have full support of his party for the promises he has made, or he would have delivered SOMETHING by now besides more debt.
Moderate democrats have not supported (or defended) all the courses of action of the president unlike the far left contingent here and elsewhere. You fucks getso hung up on words here. Ok, instead of everyone but the far left, call it many other than the far left. Shit for sakes here. You actually think I meant every single man, woman or child not in the far left? I'm not about to proofread every damn post I make here to make sure it is 100% accurate in all respects. The gist of my post was true. You want to nipick and be a cunt, so be it.
Are you really as paranoid as you come off?

Sure love throwing around accusations of people being "far left" and "libtards". You obviously have no respect for any opinions other than your own. And I don't think you've seen me in here defending everything that Obama's done. However, your characterization of "far left" or Democrats or libtards or whatever word you want to use to describe anybody who doesn't think exactly like you do is completely off base. A lot of Democats (at least a lot of the ones I know) are a lot more pissed off at the supposedly Democratic Congress for caving to the asshole Repugnitans and not passing any of Obama's agenda. The agenda that a majority of the voters bought into have failed because the Demos in Congress have no balls. Too worried about and being cowed by the minority shouting "bipartisanship". They never gave it any consideration when they were in the majority.

Hey, you can live in la-la-land and act like you care about everyone's well being. I care about what is best for me and my family. My community. You call that selfish? I would agree to an extent, but your neighbor doesn't give a fuck about me and I don't give a fuck about him. To each their own. I can get by just fine without the damn government's help. What I hate is when they get in the fucking way. And to those who feel they are helpless without the govenrment, they can fall by the wayside for all I care.

The NPP is a prize given out anually by a bunch of Swedes.

It is what it is. Not sure why there's so much flap about it one way or the other.

Obama haters are going to hate him anyway. Supporters will support him.

What?

I'm fairly certain it was YOU who once posted that was the lamest line ever. No?
Not sure why there's so much flap about it one way or the other.
Agreed. But it's fun watching Libs get their panties in a bunch about Cons getting their panties in a bunch.

Didn't Paul Krugman win some sort of award you were trumpeting about awhile back? A Pulitzer? Oh well, "it is what it is".
Obama haters are going to hate him anyway. Supporters will support him.
And then there are the vast majority who don't hate or love him, but sit back and judge him by results or lack thereof. The jury is still out, but the last thing I want is to see the man fail just because I disagree with his ideaology. The job is too important for that.

Sure gives a lot of idiots a chance to blow off steam though.

I'm truly humbled. Wags actually got over on me. So OK the NPP is awarded by five Norwegians. All the other Nobels are awarded by Swedish committees. Alfred Nobel was a Swede. Yeah I know, no excuse for not knowing.

41% of Bush's tax cuts benefitted the wealthiest 1%. Now, if you want to compare that to Kennedy's 1962 tax cuts (and Bush certainly did), only 6% of those 1962 tax cuts benefitted the wealthiest 1%. That despite the following facts: (a) the highest marginal tax bracket in 1962 was considerably higher than it was in 2001; and (b) the wealthiest 1% were doing much better viz. everyone else in 2001 than they were in 1962.

When this question is finally answered, can we get on with asking "When did you stop beating your wife"?

It's essentially the same thing. Aside from B_Short_Term_Memory, nobody in this thread is making a serious case that Omurder is worthy of the NPP.

The term "strawman" gets tossed around quite a bit on this board. This is one of those times where it would be applicable.

No, it isn't. Nobody has accused Bace of saying Obama deserved the award. People are merely asking him to detail Obama's achievements which warranted his receiving the award. In essence, they're asking Bace to state whether he feels Obama deserved the award.

It's not a strawman.
