Maybe we just have different definitions of "from?"

I seem to remember a few years back, there was rain delays at a PGA tourney. I believe it was Freddie, when asked "how do the rain delays affect you," answered "It's strange to me...I'm from Seattle, and we usually just keep playing."

Apparently, Rozy and Freddie have differing opinions on where he's from.

I'm forced to give Logan Fan a rare rack.

The thread is about TEAMs, not "hottest golf guy".

Screw you all for making me rack Logan Fan.

Would like to see an article on that.

In other words: scarred for life.

NHL: I was a Bruins fan when they had Cam Neely and Ray Bourque, but after Neely retired I lost interest. I've warmed up to the Capitals since moving to DC.
Sahkah: The Netherlands
Colleges: Became a fan of Kansas after going there, although i grew up a Buckeye fan.

Ovechkin has made them watchable, but they have been complete horseshit since their Stanley Cup finals appearance. Is it their loveable-loser aspect that makes them appealing?

I moved to DC in '01 and first started paying attention in '02-'03, which was their last playoff squad. Jagr, Bondra, Gonchar and Konowalchuk (one of my all-time favorite psychotics) were all fun to watch in their own way, even if the team wasn't built with unity in mind.

Now, they are garbage, but Ovechkin's shifts make it more than tolerable.

Nah, I wasn't being serious. I was just tossing some bait out for Trev. Either she has remarkable self restraint or she doesn't know who Shooter McGavin is.

But I have heard a few stories about Couples. Very similar to the kind of stories that are floating around about Mickelson in that he's aledged to be a prick when cameras aren't rolling.

NFL: Chiefs. But I am a Texans season ticket holder. I have been to every game and it is tough when they play my beloved Chiefs.

NBA: Not a big fan of the NBA. The only team I can stomach is the Spurs

NHL: Grew up a Bruins fan. Still am. I do like the Stars also.

MLB: I grew up and still am a die hard Red Sox fan. Living in Houston I have been an Astros fan for 20 years.

Soccer: Dynamo and Man U

IndyFrisco wrote:College - Texas A&M (This catagory should not be split into different sports)
Agreed as to the part in parens. However, a few points on that:

1. Many others disagree.
2. I knew I was gonna take a hit for rooting for both the Niners and the Yankees. Splitting college sports set me up for my rebuttal, namely, that it's far more questionable to root for different colleges in different sports than it is to root for pro teams in different cities, given the fact that college teams are far more closely connected to their university than pro teams are to their city.
3. For me personally, the only college sports I pay attention to are football and mens' basketball. I'll root for ND in any sport, but in all likelihood, in any sport other than the two I mentioned, I won't have a clue what's going on unless someone brings it to my attention.

BSmack wrote:NFL: Steelers. As a child of the 70s, the Bills were not yet a regional team for western NY. By the time they were, I had already chosen my path.
A lot of people have gotten the misperception, I think from Rome, that everyone in this area is a diehard Bills fan. What they don't realize is that the Bills didn't really become a regional time until the late 80's or early 90's, when, for the first time ever, they became a good team. Many people in this area have other allegiances as a result. Many of the old timers root for either the Giants or the Browns, and some passed that rooting interest onto their kids. Also, nearly every team that had a significantly successful run prior to the Bills becoming a regional team has a healthy fan following here, including the Cowboys, Raiders, Steelers, Dolphins, Vikings, etc. About the sole exception in that regard seems to be the Niners.
My SUNY School had no D-1 sports
No SUNY school had D-1 sports back then, IIRC. Hell, today UB is the only one with a 1-A football program, and even that is a glorified 1-AA program.
Sudden Sam wrote:As a kid, I loved the Yankees. But when Dan Topping sold them and CBS let them go to hell, I started losing interest. Then when Steinbrenner bought them, I hated them even more 'cause I don't like him.
Most Yankee fans I know despise Steinbrenner. The ironic thing is, at least on this board, most of the Yankee haters wish Steinbrenner owned their team.
