I'm shocked. Just Shocked
To hear that our global elites have been stashing trillions in offshore tax havens.

And no, I don't think this story or any other expose of criminality within the ruling class is going to wake the sheeple.

Unless it concerns the United States, I don't see how any of it affects us. If some tin pot dictator wants to salt away cash from his poverty stricken African nation, what business is that of mine? However, I do see a ripe opportunity for our cyber-warfare units to enrich our nation by stealing all this hidden wealth, particularly from drug lords and our enemies. Looks like low hanging fruit to me.

I dunno, I didn't click on your link, but I believe I have perfectly adequate reading skills. What I have read is that the names which have been revealed thus far are largely not Americans-- which makes sense seeing as the costs involved in setting up an offshore business does not offset the benefits or stop the IRS from extracting their pound of flesh. For other countries which do not have world wide taxes, perhaps owning a shell company makes financial sense, particularly if you are hiding those assets due to their stolen nature, but for the most part it is too much trouble for someone avoiding penalties from the US tax code.

Now what is germane to this discussion are the ties that Hillary Clinton has to various individuals whose name has been brought to light from this expose.

My link? Yes, you're a tard. The American names are coming. And it does indeed sound like the offshore shell companies have stopped the IRS from extracting any flesh whatsoever up to this point.Rooster wrote:I dunno, I didn't click on your link, but I believe I have perfectly adequate reading skills. Can we just remind ourselves that the #PanamaPapers are from just ONE law firm, in just ONE tax haven. Tip of the proverbial iceberg.

Damn...guess I'd better get busy moving my shit around again.
Re: I'm shocked. Just Shocked
You guys are missing the point--vast amounts of the shadow money are flooded right through American banks. Moreover, Obama wants a "trade deal" with Panama, the TIEA, that's very much in kind with the horrific TPP. It will make this secrecy legal, basically.
AS for the "libertarian" sentiment of defending corporate tax evasion, this is the fast track to corporate totalitarianism.
