Felix, for the sake of argument let's say that your analogy using realty appraisals is accurate. If altering data was commonplace, then in the context of climate change altered data would be the equivalent of realtors telling prospective buyers what areas are black, Mexican, or drug infested subdivisions. It's especially concerning since altering data is obviously very alarming to a significant segment of society, something which should give scientists pause if they wish to convince these citizens of the validity of their research. Other methods obviously should be developed.

And there would be some photographic evidence. And there would be some actual physical evidence--you know, like a black box.
