Niagra Falls or Washington DC?

Post by Dan Vogel »

My daughter will begin college in the fall and this summer we will have probably our last family summer vacation. It's been a tradition for us. We have had a lot of good memories and I can look back and see how all of these times have had us bond as a family. Now for 2015 we have narrowed it down to two choices. Niagra Falls and Washington DC. I want Washington. My daughter and my wife want Niagra. My son doesn't care and says he doesn't want a family vacation any more. I think he's at that age. The women usually end up getting their way so I am fighting an up hill battle. But it seems to me that DC would offer more things and more history. Isn't the falls really the only thing to do up there? Has anyone been there? What can you tell me about it? Thank you.

I have a miserable life and wish I were dead!

The falls are loaded with tourists and there is absolutely nothing else to do up there. It will take you an hour to tour the falls and it's not even that impressive. I'd go to DC.

I'd go to DC. The traffic sucks but the memorials are awesome. That Iwo Jima memorial is fukin huge! Ya really gotta do the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier thing too. The Smithsonian Institute. Tons of stuff to see and do in DC.

Go to DC and do the Air and Space museum and then head out to Dulles and see the addition to the Air and Space out there.

I've spent around three weeks worth of time there, and still haven't been able to do all that I'd like to.

In Niagara Falls you can also lose your life savings at the Casino Niagara before jumping over the falls. That way you can drain your bank account, void your life insurance and those ungrateful kids get NOTHING!
