Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

Post by The Whistle Is Screaming »

I heard years ago that they were going to make this movie, but have not heard anything about it, until last night. Big fan of the books and I will see the movie, coming out April 29th I believe the ad said. Will it be a major let down? Probably, but I gotta see it anyway. If they made it more about the special effects as opposed to the dialog and sarcasm in the book, then they are fucked. I'm hoping they kept the "spirit" of the book intact and utilized special effects to compliment it.

They had a movie/series for it on BBC and PBS shortly after the books came out.

I wonder if the movie will be top-shelf hilarious for the first ten minutes, and then keep repeating the same jokes for the next three hours? That would make it true to the books.

The radio show on BBC preceded the books which, then the TV series, now the movie. ANd there were differences in all of them. Douglas Adams was closely involved in the movie before he died and he specifically created the changes which will be seen in the movie. The movie is not spposed to be a verbatim update of the TV series.
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

The PG rating worries me. I haven't read the books in years, but I seem to recall them being a little more in the PG-13 realm, if not R.
