California Memorial Stadium at Sunset

Post by M2 »

The old lady is coming along nicely.

A view of the Pacific Ocean, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, San Francisco Bay, San Francisco, the Bay Bridge, and Berkeley at dusk.

http://bearinsider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60770

The high Tech Matrix turf (sup Jerry's World) is almost completely installed. The field has been lowered 7 feet (sup Autzen) the reason Cal State Eugene has such a loud stadium.

The new high tech lighting and sound system (which shoots the sound down into the stadium) is just about finished.

Cal's added two New JumboTrons with the highest resolution of any stadium in 'College Football' at 10mm.

Just a few of the many new additions to Memorial.

A little more touch up and she should be game ready for Nevada in 23 days or so.

Husky Stadium still has better views. Also, ever notice that in-game shots of Cal's stadium never seem to include a clear look at the scoreboard?

Uhm... the field at Autzen is but a few feet below the stands... from the looks of the pic, it appears to be higher in relation to the stands than Kal's new setup.

FAIL!

The reason Autzen is the loudest stadium, is because it has the loudest fans. Period. It's also completely enclosed.

Great, now you can watch Astro Boy and Speed Racer cartoons in HD while the football team gets skull fucked.

Other than maybe Washington, Air Force may have the baddest scenery going. Well, if you like mountains, anyway.

Army has games on the CBS Sports Network a few times a season.

I grew up a couple of hours from Michie Stadium and used to go to games there as a kid. Awesome place, especially in Autumn.

Yeah, sitting right on Lake Washington in the shadow of Mt Rainier in a major US city is unimpressive.

Glad Kal found a good way to spend all those surplus $$ floating around in the state budget.

Next thing they need to do is hire Mack Brown.

Dont get me wrong Washington has a great view and setting, but how much better would that look without that track or those stupid visors on either side?

It looks like we're about to find out, since the stadium is currently undergoing major renovations. If nothing else, it appears that they're definitely ditching the track. The twin roofs help to keep the decibel levels up, plus it sort of rains a lot there, you know?

If rain were the issue they could have gone to a dome a long time ago.

Maybe a dome wasn't in the budget, or perhaps they feel the loss of scenery wouldn't be worth it? Regardless, you know the reason they included those roofs in the first place had to do with protecting the fans from the weather, with the additional noise being a bonus.

Folsom Field is great. i had season tix for about 5 years in sec 117 (on the 35, facing the mountains) and lived after just down the hill from the stadium for another 4 years. Boulder Creek. that is an amazing place on planet Earth. and they play football there, too.

not very well lately, but still massive cool.

You mean that mountain you can actually see around 4 times a year for the one month it's not drizzling and overcast 24 hours a day ? Not to mention it being around 35 degrees everyday.

I just see a crappy stadium in some rural environment with a bunch of meth-head fans that have yet to get their GED.

Actually, it doesn't. Wayyyyyyy down the list among major US cities.

It does rain quite frequently, though.

You didn't think Duckfan was going to argue this point, did you?

But some actually do have a GED... they call it "a degree from UDub."

Yeah, I know. I saw it. I thought that one was kinda meh. I much preferred the one of the slutty LSU coed cupping her huge tits in that skimpy top.
