NL EAST

Philadelphia- the best team in this division, arguably the best pitching in MLB
Atlanta- made some strides at the end of last year, look for a resurgance.
New York Mets- not even a playoff contender, but enough pieces to finish a little over .500
Florida- some good talent here, not enough to get a wild card though
Washington - still a worthless franchise

NL CENTRAL

St. Louis- every year people want to crown another team, but the Cards have too much saavy. They will win this division running away and then get their asses kicked in the divisional round.
Milwaukee- They are going to be an annoying team this year that won't go away
Chicago Cubs- the window has closed. I see them being like the Mets this year.
Houston- remember that little run at the end of last year? Fluke.
Cincinnati- At least they have cute uniforms.
Pittsburgh- they'll get off to a 10-2 start or something and then finish 64-98.

NL WEST

San Francisco- this division is up for grabs and I like this team as an under-the-radar winner
L.A. Dodgers- I was all over them last year for being frauds. I think they will take a step back this season.
Colorado- actually played well for a good while last year but they won't last.
Arizona- kind of lost right now and trying to find their way back
San Diego- another team that can't seem to find its identity other than being a doormat.

AL EAST

Boston- too many weapons on offense and a lights-out rotation and 'pen
NY Yankees- old as dirt and relying on Vazquez to fill a spot. Good luck with that.
Tampa Bay- that '08 team was a complete fluke....expect another average season.
Baltimore- too good a lineup to be in last place, but they routinely get their asses smoked by Boston and NY
Toronto- really sinking at this point

AL CENTRAL

Detroit- this is the year they find a winning formula and actually play well consistently and not choke in September
Chicago White Sox- These dudes always find a way to be in the middle of it.
Minnesota- Due for a down year especially with Nathan gone.
Cleveland- won't be worth a damn this season
Kansas City- see Pittsburgh.

AL WEST

Anaheim- I learned my lesson....I won't pick against them to win this division. They are kind of like St. Louis.
Texas- Look for them to be contending by the All-Star break, and then the lack of ptiching gets exposed as usual
Seattle- decent little squad but not ready to make that leap
Oakland- Will see better days next season....they will show glimmers of hope.

Cubs will get back to form this year and win the NL Central. Cleveland is definitely going to finish last in the AL Central. I think the Royals finish 3rd with Joe Nathan out. That guy is simply too valuable to that team. As many close games as they play........to not have him is just a back breaker. Royals will definitely be improved. I'm thinking 75-80 wins. Maximum of 82. Can't wait for Opening Day. Got tickets to see Verlander vs Greinke. That is one hell of a matchup.

One team I think we're going to see make big strides this year is Cincinnati. I have a feeling they'll contend for the NL Wild Card.

Based on what?(Cubs). Not only do the Cards have the Pitching, but their lineup is solid, from 1 to 8. Only the Phillies have a lineup and staff that even comes close to comparing in the NL.

The ballpark will be an interesting factor in this season for the Twins...more so than the loss of Nathan, in my view. That turf was a factor in their small ball game and the dome was huge for how loud that place could get.

Last year, the Twins had the 9th best home record in baseball and were 52-37 on turf and 35-39 on grass. Offensively, they had the 4th best batting average on grass in the AL...the rest of the division were in bottom half. It helps having a guy like Mauer to raise the average...he hit .386 on turf (.388 at home) and .344 on grass. They were also 4th best in OBP, 6th in slugging, and 6th in runs per game...they were the best in the Central in all categories on grass.

All that being said, they played half the number of games on grass than most of the other teams in the AL since they played at least half of their games in the dome. Tampa is now the only indoor-only park left in the AL and in the entire league for that matter. They're going to have to get used to the new surroundings but I don't think their team is as much built for the turf game as they used to.

So was calling the Phils making the playoffs at the break. Went to Game 162 today in Baltimore, the fans who where there were really into it. Shit, Nationals fans shit-canned the team when Strasburg went down. Rack Baltimore for a good time. Rack the Skins as well.

Knowing our idiot GM, that would actually be the big trade he would make considering it's the one position where we don't have a need for. Dayton Moore's reasoning would be "well now Soria and Nathan could form the greatest closer duo of all-time!".
