Dinosaur Jr covers "Show me the Way"

Post by Screw »

I guess this is on some copies of "You're Living All Over Me." It wasn't on my copy. Great shit. Mascis is a god.

pretty cool. reminds me some of a replacements board tape i had from a show they played in OKC in about 85 (?) where they played a lot of covers (and the stuff from Let it Be and Hootenanny) and took requests. some of the stuff they really played well (probably plants in the audience to yell out "Bad Company!" and such)....but a fine line between faithful reverence to the song or a little bit of sarcastic playing. more or less both.

It was on my "You're Living All Over Me" CD - and I bought it back in the late-80's.

I thought Dinosaur Jr were pretty cool for about two weeks in 1993. That's about it.

No, it's because they were over-rated.

Just another drop in the ocean for slack-tuned, overdriven, bar chord wonders, wearing Motorhead t-shirts ironically.

I haven't picked up the new one yet. Word is that it's vintage Dinosaur Jr. as if they made the record in 1988. I'll probably hit iTunes this weekend.

I have seen them live probably 5 or 6 times... and yes, they are very loud.

speaking of covers and Mascis.....the solo version of the Smiths "Boy with a Thorn in his Side" just came up on winamp shuffle.

on J's Me and Martin LP.

Their cover of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven" is freakin' outstanding as well.

I just noticed one of the puppets in the "Just Like Heaven" video wearing a Deep Wound t-shirt.

Now that's fuckin' cool.

Yep.

I didn't like the movie, but the first two seasons and the series-ender I thought was fantastic.

only about a half decade off, slick. but a nice try nonetheless.

Head on the Door is about 85 and Kiss Me about 87.

King Crim,

I chose '92 because IIRC that was about the time they got wider exposure to a broader audience. You're correct on dates for those cover releases. 'Twasn't referring to those Cure songs though, more to the song "Show Me the Way". Imagine my surprise to see it was released as a UK single in '87. Damn.

Interview of J. Mascis and Murph when they were promoting "The Wagon".
