MSU/UNC

Post by indyfrisco »

No skin in the game here, but I'll be pulling for MSU. I live in the midwest. Wife graduated from Big 10 school. Go Sparty.

If any MSU grad posts in here during the game you need to check yourself. Those MSU fans who attended other schools feel free to post away.

this looks pretty familiar. UNC up double digits, opponent lots of turnovers, dismal shooting %.....

I don't know how you defend a team that doesn't miss anything.

Carolina just isn't a team you want to play catch-up with...too many scorers.

yeah, and in about 3-4 minutes the parade to the FT line begins. UNC has shot 122 FT's in 5 previous tournament games. 24 a game.

As I was walking past the TV to get a beer, having long since quit watching the game, I think I heard Jim Nance call MSU the Trojans.

Ouch.

I don't mind losing to UNC, but for the game to be over 5 minutes into the 1st half...that hurts.

That's not so much OUCH! for MSU as it is another clear case of Nance acting like a total, clueless dumbfuck who doesn't know his mouth from his asshole.

At least Carolina went into the "They can't comeback, so let's play street ball in the second half" mentality. Williams should tear them a new one for becoming sloppy and undisciplined. MSU probably won't lose by 35 this time.

It should hurt, Mgo. If you're a fan.

At least your team made it this far, which is more than 63 other teams can say.

That Guitar Hero: Metallica commercial shown earlier with Knight, Coach K, Pitino and Williams was more entertaining than this game.

Shine was right. This team would beat any of the champions of the last 10 years. They were the true team of "destiny." They had all those guys come back to win it. It was college vs NBA tonight. The only thing I can take from this game is that this juggernaut of a team will not return next year, and that MSU will return many of its key players.

Pssst... the guy on the far left lives about 5 minutes away from my shop in Novato.

Santana lives about 10 minutes away.

I honestly don't know how it didn't get back to 35 points. UNC couldn't miss, and MSU was ice cold from 3. Chris Allen was something like 0-7 from the arc, and he's "supposed" to be their best shooter. They looked rattled from start to finish. That didn't help matters.

Next year damnit, next year...

Didn't last years champion play this same Carolina team in the Final Four?

How'd that turn out?

Touche, but I would still feel pretty confident about taking this year's UNC team over last year's KU team; with their added experience. They brought back the same core guys, but those guys got even better through experience. At the end of it all they were playing like a semi pro team, which is what you saw on display yesterday.

Uh, not exactly. The extra year certainly had guys like Lawson and Ellington playing at a higher level, plus most guys tend to progress year to year in college. Not to mention last years UNC team didn't have Ed Davis, Larry Drew or Tyler Zeller.

Putting that aside, my comment regarding this UNC team was that I'd put them up against any champ of the past decade. I didn't say they'd necessarily be the best of the bunch but my belief is they'd be right there in the mix as the best. If each team were to play a best of 7 series though, my picks would prolly be:

UNC-KU: UNC in 6
UNC-UF- UF in 6
UNC-UF- UNC in 6
UNC-UNC- current UNC in 6
UNC-UConn- UNC in 7
UNC-Cuse- UNC in 5
UNC-Maryland- UNC in 6
UNC-Duke- UNC in 7
UNC-MSU- UNC in 6
UNC-UConn- UConn in 6

My choice for best team of the past 10 champs would prolly be the 07 Gators.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

I think 04 UCONN would give them the best challenge, with 07 UF right behind.
