22 Innings...

Post by Mikey »

...and the Padres blow it on an unearned run.

I'm glad I gave up and went to bed after 18.

But RACK Jake anyway. I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher that's more enjoyable to watch. Too bad he has to throw a shutout every time to even have a chance to win.

Well OK...I did see Juan Marichal pitch a few times. And Vida Blue. But I'm talking about the past two decades or so...

Wow, those are the painful ones. 2-1 final score. If you had time (and didn't need sleep) that would be a fun one to watch (unless you don't like to watch great pitching duels).
Yadda, yadda, yadda.

That's all that most people know about the "Dominican Dandy".

But he was a great pitcher with a flambouyant style. Won more games in the 1960s (191) than any other pitcher in the majors.

Career W/L of 243-142 and ERA of 2.89.

The same year (1968) that Bob Gibson won the MVP and Cy Young at 22-9 and 1.12, Marichal was 26-9 and 2.43. The next year he was 21-11 and 2.10.

Try that high kick once and see if you can still walk afterwards.

Oh, I’m quite familiar with Marichal. I was a Giants fan as a youngster. I used to try and mimic Marichal's mechanics. It was a lot easier 40 or so years ago. I remember the teams with Mays, McCovey, the good Bonds, Jim Ray Hart, the Alous, Marichal, Gaylord Perry, Tom Haller behind the plate. Some of my favorite baseball memories. Now I could give two shits about major league baseball.

Same teams I grew up with. Used to go to "bat day" at Candlestick for my birthday every year. Back then it was the only promotional give-away day except for fan appreciation day at the end of the season. Every kid got a real Louisville Slugger bat. If they gave away bats these days you'd prolly have dead people in the stands by the third inning.

You forgot Orlando Cepeca, BTW. Hal Lanier, Chris Speier, Tito Fuentes. Manager Herman Franks.

So your 15-year-old is bright, witty and entertaining?

I got back to the States in mid-1964 after 6 years overseas. Probably really got into baseball that fall. That was The Baby Bull’s last decent year with the Giants, with McCovey playing left field. Next year McCovey was at first, and a year later Cepeca Cepeda was in St. Louis. I just rattled some names off the top of my head, I wasn’t trying to list the whole roster.

Yeah, but he's also a dork. That's where the similarity ends.

That’s too bad. Well, give my best to your ugly, short-dicked kid, Mikey.

You forgot Johnnie Lemaster. You can't omit the worst hitter in the history of MLB (or so I've heard. I wasn't a fan until '86).

Chicks dig me, because I rarely wear underwear and when I do it's usually something unusual. But now I know why I have always lost women to guys like you. I mean, it's not just the uniform. It's the stories that you tell....

Johnnie LeMaster didn’t make it to the bigs until 1975. At which point none of the Giant players mentioned in this thread were playing with the Giants. Moron.

I'd out that shit troll, but that is not how I roll. If you only knew who that pathetic shit was, you would understand why they hide behind shit trolls.

I willn't. There's plenty of watching it grow green left to come.

Sorry mang, but that's how you lose the keys to finding shit trolls and their shit owners. A small perk, but one nonetheless.

If you can't trust your admin, who can you trust? :waz:
