It's Raider week

Post by trev »

Make sure you get your pre-game takes in. Do you all feel like men?

RJ, come on my sweets, let's do this.

I had hopes that the Blots would not have anything to play for in this game and would be resting starters.
Not the case.
Playoff seeding is on the line.

I didn't care for the look of the Raider team last week v. the Faguars.
Little too much quit was evident.

Sorry to say, Oakland is gonna get THUMPED.

LT all day long.
Raiders fall behind and JaFlubber tosses a couple picks .... at least.

Raider fan heads to the off-season basking in the 4-12 glow of actually doubling last season's win total.

tLT will be off the field after halftime, once the Bolts build up a 21 point lead and the rushing title is wrapped.

Pop, you might have a slight chance. I think the Chargers will pick rest over 3rd seed. They don't care who they play.

You all are still men. It's only a game.

How about Philip taking on the whole stadium?

This team hasn't reach full maturity yet. But hey, you never know what'll happen.

At least it's better than sitting home at this point.

The game was close to what I expected.

LT ran for a little less than I imagined, and Russell looked a little better than I imagined -- but he did hand the ball over two times.

That'll happen.

Rhodes has run for over 100 in consecutive weeks, after having seen very little action all year.
Makes me look at Fargas' impressive exploits this year with a different eye.

It's more the O-line doing a good job in the running game than anything else.

Oakland desperately needs more speed at WR, and they could use a speedy little 'scat-back' type RB to get a few carries a game too.

Needs
Retain coaching staff -- minus Son of Buddy, who is on the way out the door
D-Line
Safety
WR
O-Line

Oakland selects -- DE Chris Long (son of Howie) in the 1st rd

Me thinks.

Russell seems to have a lot of potential. Give him some experience, a good OL and some decent receivers and he could develop into a great QB.

Is that asking too much?

If the Bolts advance past the first round it will be more because of their defense than their offense. True, Rhodes went for 100+ but Jamal Williams was not playing. Hopefully he will be healthy next week.

When Rivers has time to throw he is a very accurate passer. Put some pressure on him and he's prone to making dumb mistakes.

Howie's son playing for the Raiduhs would be excellent Karma.

Mikey nailed it.

And I'm already looking ahead a couple years to some competitive ball vs. the Duhs.

I've expressed a fair amount of negativism about Russell in here.
I think perhaps it's sort of a 'bear market' mentality that I've developed.
The Raiders are clearly in a bear market -- 4-12, 5-11, 4-12, 2-14, 4-12.
So whenever there is the slightest hint of 'bad' news ...... expectation of the worst is the knee-jerk reaction.
I've seen some red flags on Russell.

But for a guy starting just his 2nd game, and with a very limited cast of characters supporting him, he looked fairly impressive.

I saw a draft piece with Phil Simms once where he said the whole 'it' deal when people gush over certain QB's is WAY overblown.
A QB appearing to have 'it' doesn't mean squat, in his view.
Because you just never know.

He said the overwhelming factors to consider in looking at a potential NFL QB are his physical tools.
Russell is impressive.
Big guy, big arm, above-average mobility.
I'm actually glad his mobility is only good and not great.
Much less apt to think run first.
He's a passer.

I just question his intellect, .... and maybe his weight.

I've told some people I feared Russell might not be bright enough to be a successful QB.
I said he sounds dumb when he speaks.

Some have replied, no, he's fine, -- that's just the way he talks.

I'd feel better about that if we were in a bull market.

I'm a QB visionary. Russel is going to be good.

Of course he'll need some help. I think Lane has been a bit too negative
about him.

...why all the negativity about the Duh O-line? Hell they had a huge push against the Bolt 3-4 all day. Granted Big Jamal wasn't in there but they didn't look half bad. Russell will be a stud.

Bring on the Titans. Rivers is a pocket passer, I can't remember the last pass he completed rolling out! Honest, if he's rolling, he's pathetic. Stay in the pocket Phillip and we have a chance to win a playoff game. Chambers is definitely a top flight receiver. With Gates, LT, and Chambers and continued returns by Sproles we have the tools to make some noise. The defense I believe ended up second in the NFL, and they are improving....Go Bolts

BTW..DOTRF..how is it looking up at the Duh's?

Decent mobility plus large size equals pretty hard to bring down. Plus that arm is a fucking cannon. If he learns the touch and control his potential is unlimited. The mental part, I don't know. I've never heard him talk but his decision making seemed to get better today as the game went on. I was ready to see him fold early under the Bolts' pass rush, and his first pass semed to confirm that. But he turned out to be a lot better than I expected. Next year could be interesting...

Agree with much thats been said about JaMarcus R.

But what about Rivers? I certainly don't follow the chargers but after watching him play a couple games and seeing his mannerisms, I would say he's about as good as Ryan Leaf.

I think chargers would fare just as well with leaf at qb if he had LT, Gates, Chambers and the same o-line. Not to mention a decent defense.

comments?

It blows, since I was really looking forward to seeing the postmark on 'tarts envelope.

Then again, the last time the Chiefs drafted in the top 5 they picked up Derrick Thomas.

I'd rather see the Browns, personally. I don't like this matchup at all.
...ditto..However, the Chargers held the Titans to 240 total yards at Tennessee in a comeback win. Vince Young scares me ,but is dealing with a Hammy. Collins if he plays will be running for his life.

Yeah, he's "just like Ryan Leaf." Remember all those times when Ryan Leaf put the team on his shoulders after his leading receiver went out of the game early and his running game was completely stuffed to win in the playoffs? No?
No, I don't remember. I also don't remember the weapons leaf had to work with, but I'm sure they were all comparable. I'm sure the chargers defense at the time held all its opponents to 6 points, right?

But hey, its nice of you to show up after the dischargers finally win a playoff game.

coward.
