'07-08 BCS Predictions

Post by L45B »

It's not too late. IIRC, I think I had tOSU & Auburn in the NC game last summer. After what really did happen, I have no doubt an SEC team will make it that far this year. Call It!

ORANGE BOWL - Florida over Virginia Tech
FIESTA BOWL - Texas over UCLA
SUGAR BOWL - West Virginia over TCU
ROSE BOWL - Michigan over Oklahoma

NC GAME - USC over LSU

Is that troll still going to be around after Miami is taken to the woodshed on Sept. 8?

If TCU is to make a BCS bowl they will have to beat Texas, if they beat Texas, how does Texas make a BCS bowl with a loss to a school like TCU unless they win the Big 12, if they win the Big 12 and lose to TCU, how does Okla make a BCS Bowl?

Orange Bowl Wisconsin over West Va
Fiesta Bowl Va Tech over Hawaii
Sugar Bowl LSU over Nebraska
Rose Bowl Oklahoma over Cal
NC game USC over Michigan

course that will likely be miles off

Because it's the BCS. Throw whatever logic you allegedly had out the window. And yeah, I know you have none, so let's just say the BCS does funny things.

Someone suggesting that the Rose will probably go with a PAC10/Big11 matchup?

Who woulda thunk it?

Orange: Virginia Tech vs. Ohio State

Not sold on Hawaii as a BCS contender, not yet anyway.

I think Texas will screw TCU's chances in a hard-fought contest. The winner of the the Hawaii vs Boise game probably goes undefeated. Since it is at Hawaii I'll go with them being this year's nonBCS-team.

BCS Championship Game - USC - Michigan

Rose - Penn State - Oklahoma
Fiesta - Texas - Hawaii
Sugar - LSU - WVU
Orange - Virginia Tech - USF (Homer pick yes, but we get Louisville and WVU at home, so this is a great chance)

REX - not like SEC gets two in every year...Big 10 and SEC have gotten 2 in quite a bit in recent years...but why would only having 1 SEC school this year be way off...just curious...

I can see LSU right now...and possibly UF and Auburn being right there for another spot but I can also see Wisconsin and Michigan being in the hunt for 2 Big 10 spots as well...

again just predictions man...ease up on the gas bro...long season...

Good Luck to all this year!

I see the SEC as the cream of the crop again....so two teams from the "premier" conference just makes the most sense.

(SEC ballsucking homer entrance)

Oh really?????

How does a "premier" team (Floirda), in a "premier" conference (SEC) play a 1-AA school opening weekend? Also, how come none of them travel past the Mississippi River to play a game OOC in the regular season?

the next reply in the SEC fan arguement playbook is "Why should any of the mighty SEC teams play real OOC opponents when they play tougher games than any other conferece plays week in and weekout in the SEC"
Not realizing that if they wanted everyone else to believe they are so great, they wouldnt fear playing a real OOC schedule

I just got around to looking at Hawaii's and Boise State's schedules for the upcoming year. Certainly the winner of that game could go undefeated. Each school has only one BCS-level opponent, and it's Washington in both cases. Hawaii has both Washington and Boise State at home.

That was kinda surprising to me about Hawaii. Because of the scheduling break the NCAA gives teams for playing a roadie at Hawaii, Hawaii usually attracts a pretty tough OOC schedule, even if most of the OOC games are at home.

As for the comment about "this year's nonBCS-team," certainly if history is any guide, we'll have a non-BCS team in the BCS most years. But it's still entirely possible to see a year without any (see '01 and '02 for examples, neither year would have had a non-BCS team in the BCS under current rules.) In fairness, of course, it would be hard to keep an undefeated non-BCS team out of the BCS under the current rules.

I didn't know we were getting points for originality. I was only picking the games the way I saw them.

Does the NCAA still award teams that play OOC games in Hawaii another game? since they awarded everyone a 12th game that has taken a lot of the incentive of a roadie vs the bows. USC still has a road game there in a year or two but that may have been scheduled before everyone was awarded 12 games

You still get an extra game if you make a road trip to Hawaii. Of course, with the 12th game already in place, there's very little incentive for any team in a conference with a CCG to do that, since taking advantage of the extra game means that you would have to play every week.

Other than mentioned above, I could see a team still wanting to play Hawaii on the road in order to get an extra home game on the schedule. As long as you schedule a game for the first week in December you would still have a bye week built into your schedule.
