Hebrew National, grilled* with HN deli mustard and maybe some sour kraut. A good hot dog doesn't need all that other crap on it, a shity one does. It's like a good cut of meat versus a bad cut of meat.
Not that meat has anything to do with a hot dog discussion :) , but you get the idea.
* Shawn Marion, you don't know what you're missing.

I fully understand what grilling brings to certain meats/vegetables and how beneficial it can be. For instance, bratwurst must be grilled. However, hot dogs are not better grilled, they are worse. There is nothing worse than ordering a chili dog and it shows up as some charred piece of mystery flesh under all the toppings. Steamed or boiled is the way to go, it is the perfect hot dog.

Goodness gracious, what a bunch of uncultured dolts the rest of the country is.
Whether you're talking mustard or horseradish, it's all about --
OK....I'm homering. I grew up a couplefew of blocks from there. Regardless, they've got some of the best condoments there is, anywhere. Internationally famous for their horseradish.
The Napa Valley Mustard label is fairly new, I believe, and extremely funny to us locals, since the shit is made in the same place as the rest of it -- about 600 miles north of Napa Valley. But, if you like gourmet mustard, and you see that brand in the store, check it out. Excellent stuff. Highly recommended, as is the Inglehoffer Sweet Hot Mustard.

I will fight you. The exterior texture is half the value. Steamed and boiled hot dogs suck worse than Zima.Shawn Marion wrote: Just make sure the dog is either steamed or boiled. None of that grilled shit.
