Charles Ipes, police chief in the small Calcasieu Parish town of Iowa ---population about 25-hundred --- couldn't believe it. Within a few short hours of conducting a sting operation for online child predators, a suspect was in custody.

26-year-old Arthur Goodly, head track coach at Lafayette High School, married, father of two young boys is in the Calcasieu Parish jail tonight. He is accused of trying to rendezvous with a 14-year-old girl he met online. Turns out the girl was actually an investigator for the State Attorney General's office.

The rendezvous, a set up. Ipes says the two arranged to meet at the Knights of Columbus Hall off highway 90 in Iowa. Chief Ipes adds that when Goodly showed up for the meeting, he had items in his car which he was instructed to bring.

Goodly is charged with computer-aided solicitation of a minor.

Police Chief Ipes tells TV-3 he didn't really plan this sting operation; he suddenly decided to do it. He figured internet predators were everywhere else so maybe they were in Iowa as well. Ipes says he was truly amazed at how fast predators respond and how quickly they made an arrest. "This is the first case we've made this week."

Chief Ipes says he had no suspicions but figured why not. He contacted the Attorney General's office about setting up a sting to catch internet predators. He says the two day operation resulted in more hits than he ever expected.

"They told me we'd have an arrest in probably the first three hours online," Ipes said. "I thought that was stretching it but within the first 10 minutes and we

Ipes says the arrest of Lafayette High teacher and coach Arthur Gooly came after only two hours of internet chatting. The police chief says if internet predators have made their way to the Iowa, no one is safe.

Computer-aided solicitation of a minor is a federal offense. If convicted, Arthur Goodly could pay up to a 10 thousand dollar fine and serve a two to ten year prison sentence. He would also be required to register with the state as a convicted sex offender.

Nothing like going from a likeable track coach and teacher one day to town perv/pedo the next. Hope it was worth it!

Ex-pastor faces sex charges
D.A.'s office says Lee 'had sex' with 15-year-old

NORWICH -- A former pastor accused of running off with a 15-year-old girl could be served by the Chenango County District Attorney's Office with sex charges as early as today, Assistant District Attorney Stephen Dunshee, of Sherburne, said Wednesday.

Lewis J. Lee, 54, was apprehended at his Maryland job Monday night, while Elizabeth Thomsen of the Town of Columbus was with him. The Chenango County teenager left home with her family's former pastor March 18. In the past month, the two were spotted as far away as Tennessee.

Lee could face two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor, or third-degree rape, a felony, Dunshee said. Both charges will result from incidents Dunshee said occurred in the Town of Sherburne.

"He manipulated her and then had sex with her," Dunshee said following Lee's arraignment Wednesday in Chenango County Court on a felony charge of first-degree custodial interference. "Any sex that occurred was not consensual. She is not of the age where she can give consent. I think what happened here is despicable."

Lee was returned to Chenango County on Wednesday and is being housed in the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail, pending a possible Town of Columbus Court appearance at 7 p.m. today. He had been in the Washington County Detention Center in Hagerstown, Md., following his apprehension at Office Essentials in Hagerstown, where he had worked as a delivery driver for the past several weeks.

Thomsen was returned to her family Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday, two dozen people gathered in Chenango County's Family Court chambers for Lee's arraignment; only two weren't members of the media. A heavily-armed sheriff's guard escorted the handcuffed ex-pastor into court.

Lee, who wore a wedding band, showed no emotion during the six-minute hearing and answered Chenango County Judge W. Howard Sullivan's few questions politely, replying with "yes, sir" and "no, sir."

Defense attorney Diane M. DiStefano, assigned for the purpose of the arraignment, waived reading of the charge. Sullivan said he was acting as a substitute for Town of Columbus Justice Ralph B. Simons; the next court appearance would be before Simons, he said.

DiStefano said she would determine whether to pursue a felony hearing after speaking with Lee either Wednesday evening or this morning. The defense has the right to waive such a hearing. The prosecution has to present enough evidence to make the presumption that a crime was committed.

Sullivan denied any issue of bail Wednesday. Dunshee had requested that Lee be sent to jail without bail, calling him a flight risk.

DiStefano asked that Lee be put in solitary confinement, but gave no reason for the request. The defendant's housing is up to the sheriff's department, Sullivan said.

Lee, former pastor of the Christian Baptist Church near Sherburne, had given the girl an engagement ring when she was just 13, Chenango County Sheriff Thomas Loughren said he learned from Thomsen's parents. Loughren said investigators hadn't had an opportunity to map the travels of Lee and Thomsen but were aware they left Tennessee and went as far west as Wyoming before returning to Maryland.

"We had looked at Tennessee for a while, but they always seemed a day or two ahead of us. When we learned the area where they had been, we did blitz a 12-county area with their pictures and that may have driven them west," Loughren said.

Now, Sudden, don't go into the slough of despond over the wrong idea of a very understandable cause and effect relationship. Fact is, there are biological processes working within all of us right now that we're not immediately aware of; psychological ones too. You and T in C plead guilty to skimming but there's some deeper mental defense mechanism involved here. Look at the thread title... it's Risa Time!!!! Now, what do we all do when that nic comes around a thread? Avert eyes, furiously work scroll wheel. Unconscious processes take over habitual, routine activity so to free the eminently fullest awareness for more interesting things in the environment. They have counties in NY? I thought they were like us and had Boroughs.

NYC has the five boroughs. Every place in New York outside of NYC is counties (each borough is also considered a county, btw).

I don't know, I just recall a teacher in early grade school telling us this. She was probably wrong, it was Arkansas in the 80s and her degree was from texass so infer what you will from that.

The Bronx and Queens. Manhattan is New York County; Brooklyn is Kings County; and Staten Island is Richmond County.

Btw, when I was at ND, we had a player on the basketball team, Gary Voce, who was from Queens. Our PA announcer at the time, Jack Lloyd, would introduce the starters including their hometowns. Voce was two years behind me, and didn't become a regular starter until after I left, although he started on occasion when I was there. Anyway, Lloyd apparently knew about the Bronx, and thought the same applied to Queens. So on those occasions, I was treated to:
