Do you have any idea what a bleeding heart liberal fuckstain she is?

You really shouldn't be posting her lyrics, you know.
You should be boycotting every piece of music and art she ever produced.

OK, well then...RACK Joni.
One of my favorite all-time artists.

You should pick up this 2 DVD set. I actually got it just a couple of weeks ago. One DVD is her life's story with some incredible clips from her early career and interviews with her and her friends and other musicians, etc. An amazing story, made by that nest of commie sympathizers, PBS. The second DVD is a performance from maybe 5 years ago that will just have you dropping your jaw.

The day I drove back from Vegas, after the only five years I've lived away from California, I had this song blasting on my truck's stereo the entire way back. Well, maybe part of the way back, but it had tears coming from my eyes.

California I'm coming home...

Sitting in a park in paris, france
Reading the news and it sure looks bad
They won’t give peace a chance
That was just a dream some of us had
Still a lot of lands to see
But I wouldn’t want to stay here
It’s too old and cold and settled in it’s ways here
Oh, but california
California I’m coming home
I’m going to see the folks I dig
I’ll even kiss a sunset pig
California I’m coming home

I met a redneck on a grecian isle
Who did the goat dance very well
He gave me back my smile
But he kept my camera to sell
Oh the rogue, the red red rogue
He cooked good omelettes and stews
And I might have stayed on with him there
But my heart cried out for you, california
Oh california I’m coming home
Oh make me feel good rock’n roll band
I’m your biggest fan
California, I’m coming home

Chorus:

Oh it gets so lonely
When you’re walking
And the streets are full of strangers
All the news of home you read
Just gives you the blues
Just gives you the blues

So I bought me a ticket
I caught a plane to spain
Went to a party down a red dirt road
There were lots of pretty people there
Reading rolling stone, reading vogue
They said, how long can you hang around?
I said a week, maybe two,
Just until my skin turns brown
Then I’m going home to california
California I’m coming home
Oh will you take me as I am
Strung out on another man
California I’m coming home

Chorus:

Oh it gets so lonely
When you’re walking
And the streets are full of strangers
All the news of home you read
More about the war
And the bloody changes
Oh will you take me as l am?
Will you take me as l am?
Will you?

And here comes that rain to SLC that just hit you.
Thanks for this thread, dawg.
I've been madly in love with that woman since about 1972.
She's a grandma now...

DAMN, you guys are old.

I'm downloading the music you are putting up, but please put up titles for me.

I wanted to put the song that informed me of Joni Mitchell's existence, but its a Janet Jackson song where QTip informs me that "Joni Mitchell never lies", but I realized that would be garbage. Janet's garbage, but QTip isn't.

There is your contribution from an old, but young poster.

I just listened to "Blue".

Do you guys have your stoagies out tonight? That was some slow shit. I guess I got about 10 years until I move from my current state of "slow, tempo, ambiance" to downright really slow.

Not to say it wasn't good and I will be deleting it, but I need to be in that mood. I have plenty of slow songs that I won't dig up for fear of crying like a girl.

Hotel California is my jam to put me in a wierd vibe. In fact, it just started right now.

I don't listen to violent hateful shit of rap and hard rock, so I'm getting old along with you. My current state is somber, but give it a faster beat. I'll catch up soon enough.

Never said it was rock 'n roll.

Try Court and Spark. It's a little more lively.
She has an awesome jazz-rock band backing her there, including Robbie Robertson, Joe Sample, Wilton Felder, Tom Scott & the LA Express.

I know you didn't.

If you approved of "Hotel California", check out the Orb remix.

Just do a search of Orb and Hotel California in whatever realm you explore and you will find it.

I think it's just a generational thing. The ORB remix did nothing to improve it lyrically or modally, just a funkier modern beat.

IOW not much of a change.

Joni Mitchell is ace. The Hissing Of Summer Lawns alone is enough to exonerate Canada for all Rush-crimes.

Ah, Joni -- the barometer that determines if you've smoked enough weed -- when Joni becomes the greatest sound to ever hit your ears, you've smoked enough.

Her music makes perfect sense when heavily grilled.

I guess my point is, is that I'm down with Joni...especially when extra-lambasted.

And nobody goes from "tolerable" to "brilliant" with a couple of puffs like Joni does.

Listening to it right now. It was about time I updated my copy to digital.

rack Bit Torrent

Joni Mitchell would be epic if her only contribution was inspiring Robert Plant to write "Goin to California".

Of course that is but the tip of the iceberg. Rack her.

Cool. That must mean that I'm permanently buzzed.

That could be a good thing, but I'm suddenly getting a craving for Nacho Cheese Doritos.

Help me
I think I’m falling
In love again
When I get that crazy feeling, I know
I’m in trouble again
I’m in trouble
’cause you’re a rambler and a gambler
And a sweet-taiking-ladies man
And you love your lovin’
But not like you love your freedom

Help me
I think I’m falling
In love too fast
It’s got me hoping for the future
And worrying about the past
’cause I’ve seen some hot hot blazes
Come down to smoke and ash
We love our lovin’
But not like we love our freedom

Didn’t it feel good
We were sitting there talking
Or lying there not talking
Didn’t it feel good
You dance with the lady
With the hole in her stocking
Didn’t it feel good
Didn’t it feel good

Help me
I think I’m falling
In love with you
Are you going to let me go there by myself
That’s such a lonely thing to do
Both of us flirting around
Flirting and flirting
Hurting too
We love our lovin’
But not like we love our freedom

One of my faves.

I guess, kinda sorta.

Joni's first hit came around about the same time as Joan's last hit...but close enough, I guess.

Well...
It was a long time ago, anyway.

Did Joan ever have a "hit"?

For that matter, did Joni (besides maybe You Turn Me On I'm a Radio...you should get the DVD I posted above to hear the story on that one)?

I do get your point, though.

Oh yeah, I guess there were a couple on Court and Spark too.

I seem to recall hearing Joan's cover of The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down on Am radio back in the day. That's about it that I can remember.

[Radio Norwich. Alan sits behind the mixing desks in the radio studio, wearing a pringle sweater.]

Alan Partridge: That was Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell, a song in which Joni complains they ‘Paved paradise to put up a parking lot’, a measure which actually would have alleviated traffic congestion on the outskirts of paradise, something which Joni singularly fails to point out, perhaps because it doesn’t quite fit in with her blinkered view of the world. Nevertheless, nice song. It’s 4:35am, you’re listening to ‘Up With The Partridge’.

Baez didn't have a tenth of Joni Mitchell's talent. Artistically, they aren't really on the same level.

Rack Roach for the Court and Spark lyrics. Great album.
