Is it asking too much for somebody to just sing it as it's written?

The riffing and ad-libbing has gotten ridiculous.

I missed the anthem - WTF was so bad?

They tried to turn it into a hymn with lots of improvisation.

Agree. Makes me miss how Whitney Houston sang it. Now she can't remember the lyrics

I doubt that she remembers the lyrics to Happy Birthday anymore.

It was written as a drinking song.

How about having the Michigan band go out there and play it without anyone singing. Would have been better than Aretha and Aaron. Neville absolutely without a doubt sucks ass.

I like keeping tradition alive but the Motown thing has run it's course. I don't mind hearing old songs played during bumps going in and out of comercial breaks but these old singers and artists shouldn't be headlining an event like this. It's like watching a great athlete play well past their prime. The Stones are past their prime as artists but they're still a great live act...they were the only ones that didn't embarass themselves tonight.
