Things you like about John Madden...

... and things you hate

I love Big John... cause he's a football guy!

He sees the game as coach would.

50% of his thoughts are on the line and their play.

Madden and Bum Phillps will always be my favorite NFL coaches...

He makes a damn good video game.

And he took my team to its first Super Bowl win.

Madden deserves to be a Hall of Famer.

It's the popular thing to bag on Madden, but I love the guy. Like m2 said, he's a football guy, he played, coached, and knows what's happening on the field. He elaborates on schemes, formations, and coverage's the average Joe wouldn't pick up.
He's not controversial, knows his place, doesn't have the ego problem most sportscaster's do, and works perfect with Michaels.

Hey, but I also like Bill Walton for the same reason's. Well maybe Walton's a tad controversial...might have a tad of an ego as well...but he know's the game.

I'll take this thread semi seriously and say, many a football game I have dropped down and prayed Madden would vapor lock and drop dead live and on the air..

things we'd miss about Madden?

BOOM

his explanation of what Kankles are every game

stating the obvious

calling out Pats coaching during the Super Bowl for not running out the clock and going to overtime, as they marched down the field to WIN said Super Bowl

showing us his Pig Tongue every time he's on camera

oh and who can every forget the All- Madden team, that I think a whole 10 people watched last year
