I think you meant to say Pavement and Guided By Voices.
When it's all said and done The Lips will have ousted Pavement from that position..plus, I'm not the biggest Pavement fan.

I'm not a music guy, will likely never be a music guy. So I don't have off the wall, flying under the radar, not being played on radio favorites.

My all time favorite:

Bruce Springsteen

After that, probably shit you all would classify as overplayed or pussy.

My REAL list of recent listening faves:

King Crimson
Chris Squire/Conspiracy
Jeff Buckley
Steely Dan
Jerry Harrison
Robbie Robertson

I listen to pretty much anything - some older country (Johny Cash, Jerry Reed, Johny Horton), some jazz (e.g.,Larry Carlton), and of course, I have my required "guinea tunes" from Dean Martin and Sinatra. I much prefer Dino over Frank.

I also listen to stuff from local artists like Miche Fambro and John Bartles.

I don't have the time or energy to debate music snobs...got damned tired of the folks who make a point of looking down their noses at people who listen to artists who have actually sold some CDs.

BTW, Jess the Wannabe, I doubt there's one freaking fan of At The Drive In that wouldn't also list The Mars Volta amongst their favorites.

It probably wouldn't have been quite so obvious if you had actually seperated the acts that teamed up for a song, aka "BiG and Puffy."

The only person on the planet that would list Gary Numan as one of their all-time favorite bands is Gary Numan's mother, and she's only saying that to be nice. Dude had ONE freaking tune, albeit a very influential one in it's time.

Oh, and while we're at it.....Monty Python isn't a band.

Busted.....again.

Mars Volta are not as good as the original.

yeah well they only had good songs when working with others

Every Sperm is Sacred
Always Look on The Bright Side of Life
Wrestling Song
they are among my favorites.

No, what happened is you got busted for trying to "fit in"......on a fucking message board. Running damage control after outing yourself as an even bigger geek than anyone thought is just so very......JTResque. Of all the sadness that surrounds you, this may be the worst case.

And is Shinedown the band that does that dreadful cover of Simple Kind Of Man?

If so....please kill yourself. While there's some deece remakes in history, that is one that never should have been made, and playing it is the quickest way to get me to shut the Clear Channel crap off, and just listen to road noise.

You list him as one of your FAVORITES, yet he has only 1 song that you like?

Ok then.

PS- Buckley has a plethora of good shit. WINMX the name and put away the Shinedown crap. If'n you quit drinking the Clear Channel kool aid you might just find something much more interesting and tolerable.

You've got a huge heed, Jess. Expand the mind.

Don't get me wrong -- there's nothing wrong with lying about your musical preferences......in certain situations.

Attempting to win friends and influence people on a message board isn't one of those situations. Save that shit for when you're trying to get some strange. Shit, if my washed-up old ass is trying to score some college aged hotties, I'll be the world's biggest DMB fan EVAR.....and I'll even pull it off with a straight face.

But when the day comes that I'm lying to get into Bace and scritti's pants.......the fucking horrah.
