Broncos release Maurice Clarett

Post by Joe in PB »

Broncos release Maurice Clarett

Maurice Clarett's gamble for the big dollars in the NFL failed for a second time. The Denver Broncos informed Clarett on Sunday that he is being released.
Mike Shanahan surprised the league by using a third-round draft choice on the former Ohio State running back in the final selection of the round. The Broncos coach thought he had the cutback style of running that fit in one of the league's best running systems.
As it turned out, Shanahan made a mistake and didn't want to waste time admitting it. With Tuesday's deadline for cutting the roster to 65 looming, Clarett, who never made the field in three preseason games, was let go.

....Despite his failure in Denver, Clarett should receive some interest from other teams although it is likely teams may not want to claim his four-year contract. There is a 24-hour waiver claim period that begins Monday when he goes on the league waiver wire. If he is cleared by Tuesday at 4 p.m., Clarett is eligible to sign with any team in the league.

Tell me that he didn't get a signing bonus.
I hate sigs. But I lost a stupid fucking bet because a KC Paul lookalike and his sorry ass team were inferior to the greatness that is the Pittsburg Steelers.

I guess showing up for work completely out of shape is a bad idea?

Dude needs to channel the spirit of Walter Payton and start running hills like a motherfucker if he wants to get his career on track.

Only ICSF and Bronco Rob have.

Drafting this underachiever was one of the worst moves Shanny has done in his 11 seasons here.

Just the latest in a long series of "bad ideas".

Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.
He's not doing himself any favors that's for sure. Of course he's always got "Hanger on to LeBron James" to fall back on.

ICSF and Bronco Robby were the ones I was referring to. You're the only level headed Bronco fan on here.

link?

It wasn't as much a mistake as Clarett is a quitter. Anyone who watched his tape in HS and at OSU as a freshman couldn't help but salivate. We made about a dozen moves and not counting late draft choices, every one looks like they will pan out sans Clarett. Engleberger, Brown (not serious, will return soon), Warren, Meyers, Eke, Alexander, Saurbraun, traded the #1 for a better #1 and a 4th, freeing up money for Pryce... all three corners look to stick (DW is going to be a star)...it's amazing people are dwelling on one reach that didn't pan out.

It's a third round compensation pick, Shanny admitted his mistake and cut his ass. Most coaches wouldn't have done the same for ego reasons.

you seriously thought that was a great 3rd round pick????

When Clarette was still at OSU I hated him and felt sorry for any team that insisted on drafting him after he dropped out of college....even if it was the Queefs.

Never did I think that Ratty would even consider taking a chance on this guy.

Our RBs are fine the way they are. We have four very capable and very talented guys that will definitely put up numbers this season.

Hopefully this admitted mistake by Shanny himself will just blow over and we can forget this draft pick even happened.

I hear there's a sudden opening in Pittsburgh for a running back....
I think the Steelers would rather fill that spot with Noah Herron.

You can't say Shanny isn't making progress- he waits until the 3rd round before fucking up. Dan Reeves always got his fuck ups out of his system in the first 2 rounds

How long before Shanarat wises up and flushes those Brownie turds?

They may not be overpriced but I have a feeling DEAD WEIGHT isn't the only thing Denver fans will be calling them by the end of season.

It's all designed to throw opposing teams into a dither.......
