Weekend Roll Call 6-17-23

Post by kcdave »

New Alice Cooper!?!?!? Are you fucking kidding me???
Bad ass jam. I hope the rest of the album is of this
quality.

Happy Father's Day dads!

Lots of grill biz today. Drops, pickups, normal BS.
Also will be conducting an experiment or two with
sodium hydroxide - lye, to test the effectiveness of
its cleaning abilities. I have tried several of the typical
commercially made cleaners and while some are
decent, none have done the complete job that I am
looking for. I absolutely must find a way to cut down
on the labor time needed to turn product. Many of
the commercial products use sodium hydroxide as their
primary ingredient, so I want to turn up the volume a
little and see how it works. News at 11.

Hopefully an afternoon by the pool if the weather holds out.
Reverse searing a couple of ribeyes for dinner tomorrow
night on the PK. If ya know, ya know. Also finalizing
trip plans for Colorado vacation next month. Thanks to
d-town for your help.

Happy weekend, Y'all.

My pleasure, Dave. I actually am looking forward to seeing the quality PET... especially the Glenwood Springs portion.

We finalized a summer vacation last night ourselves. Second weekend in August we will be road tripping to Sandusky, OH and visiting Cedar Point. Staying at a hotel owned by Cedar Point that has a water park. Getting a full breakfast buffet included as well. Wife, then girlfriend, and I were there last in 2006 when we were in Toledo for my brother's wedding.

Looking forward to getting back on Millennium Force!

And happy father's day to all fellow dads!

Glenwood Springs is one of the nicest places in the 48. Ditto for everything east to Frisco and the Eisenhower tunnel. Triple D taco in GS is the 💣.

The Cord-Duesenberg and the Studebaker museums are both on your way to Cedar Point, as is Touchdown Jesus. Highly recommend all three.

Heading to Santa Margarita lake for kayaking, bbq, hiking and camping. Friend is stopping by with her horses Sunday so that should be fun. June gloom here by the coast is horrible this year so driving to the sun.

The sun finally came out this morning for the first time in months. 75 deg now and not a cloud in the sky. Got the spa heating up for this afternoon (it’s solar heated). Father’s Day here will be me cooking exactly what I want. Smoked shrimp, scallops and tomatoes. Some grilled beef tenderloin, Caesar salad and baked potatoes.

Got my tickets for Neil Young on July 11. Haven’t seen him live since 1974 with CSN&Y at the Oakland Coliseum.

I really screwed the pooch on that one. Should have said “the triple d taco place” as in diners drive in and dives but it’s not even in GS it’s in Grand Junction.

Taco Party
126 S 5th St
Grand Junction, CO 81501

Sorry about the wild goose chase, I’ll take the L on that one.

There is no such thing. Let me guess, you flunked Wills and Trusts just like you flunked Con Law.

You mean grand nephew and grand niece (her sibling’s grand kids) or great-grand n&n (her sibling’s great grand children). I suspect the former given the ages involved.

I absolutely miss the crap out of that city especially the mountain top amusement park called Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.

If anyone is there during the winter, there is a very underrated ski resort called Sunlight Mountain Resort. No it's not this enormous mega resort that takes up 5 counties and charges hundreds for the day and hundreds more to stay the night. Small place, only 3 lifts, no crowds, reasonable ticket prices and they partner with the hot springs resorts and area hotels for some special packages. They also offer snowmobile tours.

Glenwood Springs is pretty much the only mountain town with stuff to do year round and it's not nearly as expensive as other mountain towns... especially their distant neighbor to the southeast.

I would add Leadville and Silverton to the list. Any mountain town has tons to do in Summer and both have resorts nearby that are nice small places. Silverton even has a City run “resort” right in town, Kendall Mountain. Sure it’s one small lift but it’s so cheap you only need to burn a few runs to make it worth your while. To top it off Leadville has the highest weed shop in the US (owned by Floyd Landis who won the Tour de France in 2006 and then had it stripped for doping) and Silverton has the second highest. 😁

CWS has been fantastic so far. Every game’s been great.

This Florida-Oral Roberts game is wild.
