So, what was/is for dinner tonight?

Post by Ken »

Was totally comfort food for me this eve... Kielbasa, crap ton of sauerkraut, and good ol' Kraft Mac n cheese. Comfort food absolutely hit the spot this eve after a long work day.

No pics... If you can't picture a plate of Kielbasa and 'kraut, well then.

I have always done mashed potatoes with that combo.

Likewise. Virtually every time. However, when I do make them I make a proper mashed potato. I just didn't have it in me to make them this eve.

Sorry Ken, I didn't see this thread before posting about my kalua pork.

Tonight's dinner is leftover pork and fresh cole slaw.

Always good to do something like that from time to time w/family. While not necessarily top shelf... good times anyways. How was the 'volcano'?

Looks like a good time, Roach. Except for the salad. Why can't Asian places make an edible side salad?

It's always a few big chunks of browning lettuce, three shreds of carrot and watery dressing.

I don't know about other places in Asia, but Japan doesn't have that much land for farming.

The Japanese place we go to in town has a great sushi bar and also an extensive menu of entrees. They make an excellent salad with a creamy miso and sesame based dressing that I wish I could replicate myself. I guess if you want to do business in an area that produces all sorts of farm fresh produce year round you’d better be able to offer a decent salad.

If you're out for a posh Asian dinner, the salad is about as concerning as the coat-check.

Same here. Our go to has some very interesting salads. I was actually shocked to find quality sushi out here. The chef was sous chef under Daisuke Nakazawa who apprenticed to Jiro Ono.

No real surprise to see Queerland fisting himself in another food thread. What a dumbfuck.

Sushi fish with exception of some tuna is frozen to -31 degrees for at least 15 hours in order to destroy parasites making it safe to consume raw. That is FDA regulation.

So, yeah, good sushi is available anywhere there is a good sushi chef.

Dude, Warren Buffet lives in Nebraska, and he's a lot richer and smarter than you.
Next to the food he partakes in, you're a spam eating soy boy.
Buffet's favorite steakhouse (Gorat's) is fairly meh.

So you will defend tomatoes and sushi just not anything important. Yes we all know the regs for sushi. Well actually I do and you don’t. You forgot all the farm raised and the shell fish and the muscles and the fish eggs and the straight from boat to restaurant exceptions, so you were right, except of all the really good stuff and that’s if you are so hated that you don’t have friends that do non restaurant sushi which has no restrictions.

You are a stupid yellow fuck.

Great time of year for chanterelles in Cali. We picked a shit ton after the first rains. Easy to ID due to the veins so it’s one of the few safe wild pick ‘shrooms.

Nice. I just got some at the farmers market. Costco had them for a while really cheap. It was like maybe a pound and a half for around $16.00. Only lasted a few weeks though. I think they had a huge outbreak in the PNW and shipped a lot down here.
