Redskins penalized for offseason workouts

NFL.com wire reports

ASHBURN, Va. (June 9, 2005) -- The NFL has docked the Washington Redskins three days of offseason practices for conducting workouts that were too physical.

The team will lose its "organized team activities" -- essentially practices without pads -- scheduled for June 13-15.

In addition, there can be no player meetings or conditioning sessions at Redskins Park from June 10-15. Players will be allowed to report to the building only if receiving treatment for an injury.

The team's mandatory three-day minicamp begins June 17.

"It's something where we felt like we were operating the way we should," coach Joe Gibbs said. "After reviewing it, they thought our line drills were too physical. It's happened to other people. I think it's just something to deal with."

The team's offseason work came under scrutiny when the team posted highlights from its practices on its Web site. Officials from the NFL Players Association saw the footage and notified the league of possible violations of the rule forbidding "live contact drills between offensive and defensive linemen" during the offseason.

Gibbs said the Redskins will continue the Internet broadcasts, but he said he scaled back the drills at practice June 9.

"We had no one-on-one whatsoever," Gibbs said. "I'm kind of gun-shy right now until they really clarify it for us."

On another matter, Gibbs said he finally had heard from safety Sean Taylor.

After months of refusing to return the coach's phone calls, Taylor spoke to Gibbs by phone on June 8 with help from Taylor's agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Taylor had been the only unexcused absentee from the offseason workouts.

He has been told to stay away from Redskins Park following an arrest in Florida.

"I did talk to him, had a good talk with him, and Drew," Gibbs said. "We just kind of talked a little bit about the situation and everything and just kind of had a personal conversation. So we're hoping the issues can get cleared up to give the Sean the time to work on this."

Taylor is accused of aggravated assault with a firearm and simple battery following an incident involving a gun last week near Taylor's home in Miami. He is free on $16,500 bond with an arraignment date scheduled for June 24.

What did I tell you last year foreskin fan?

That old man Gibbs was washed up and this was a reach hire by the midget.

After Shanny bitchslapped Gibbs into that Portis/Bailey plus a #2 trade I thought that even you would see the light but apparently intelligence is lacking in the Foreskin community.

So lets see here:

Taylor is mad and wants a new deal.

Arrington is mad and wants a new deal.

You have no D line or cornerbacks to speak of.

Your QB will either be Patrick "Inaccurate" Ramsey or Jason Campbell?

That adds up to about 3-13 bitches.

It doesn't suck to be holding next years Foreskin #1 pick right about now does it?

Who was the one that told you that trade would turn out to be a blockbuster for the Broncos?

Oh yeah that was me.

Man I'm getting tired of being right all of the time.

All you have too look forward to is this foreskin fan...

With the first pick in the 2006 draft the Denver Broncos select......

Too bad Shanahan's replacement will be making the #2 pick in the draft... with Denver's pick.

Ahhh Been Smacked.

Fitting that a Squeeler fan is also a Democrat wanna be loser.....

Both groups are adept at getting close enough to taste the prize only to have the rug ripped out from under them as they choke yet again.

Losing at home in the AFC Championship game should be so common to Squeelerfan that an actual victory is incomprehensible.

Ask Al Gore about winning the big one.

Face it Been slapped.

Your team and your party exist for only two reason.

For others to laugh at.

Loser party = loser franchise.

Bottom line.

Which Republican will beat your sorry ass Democrat down a little ways down the road B Smack?

Please us Republicans are pleading with you to nominate Hillary.

That nomination will get more snickers than you do when exposing your tiny crank to whatever whore your sorry ass has paid for on any given evening.

Shouldn't you be 69ing with the other communists in Main Street?

Shut the fuck up forklift bitch!

I've been examined left and right by every mod in here so the troll argument is weak and unsatisfying- the same things your lady prolly says about your sex life.

Now drive on over to aisle 5 and take down a pallet of shrink wrap or whatever you do during your miserable existance of a life.

Don't spend that 5 bucks an hour all in one place loser!

This is like, really, WAY too fucking easy.

Please demonstrate for me some more the finer art of bending over and sticking your own head up your own ass.

Upon further review, I now know how you came upon that nic.

Still waiting for an answer to the question forklift boy.

In the future if you are unlucky/unintelligent enough to have only advanced to the level of forklift driver in your life feel free to make something up to spare your self the embarassment.

C'mon now just type in the number.

5 bucks an hour?

6?

Or did the allmighty forlift union stick it to the man for $7.50 or so?

If I am I'll leave for good.

If you are wrong you leave for good.

Up for a little wager forklift bitch?

I know better than to ask you for money since we both know you don't make any.

Btw nice 8 minute wait before claiming 'bode.

How long have you been staring at the screen hoping I'll leave you alone?

It's just a message board tard, it's pretty funny that this is so important to you you are unwilling to make a simple wager.

Or is it just that the life of a forklift driver requires an early bedtime?

better wait til this year to see if gibbs- who pasted horse face and company in a super bowl one time- is 'washed up'.
After Shanny bitchslapped Gibbs into that Portis/Bailey plus a #2 trade I thought that even you would see the light but apparently intelligence is lacking in the Foreskin community.
my god. is this a joke? fyi, bailey sucks, dude. watch a game or somethin'. but, at least you solved your RB problems by drafting clarett.....
Taylor is mad and wants a new deal.
who doesnt? think he'll get it?
Arrington is mad and wants a new deal.
no he doesnt.
You have no D line or cornerbacks to speak of.
#2 D in the league last year. they didnt seem to have trouble stopping RB's or putting pressure on the QB. what planet are you on? and shawn springs was unreal last year- bailey wasnt in his league, sport. and they just drafted rogers. you ought to be worried about your cast off D line and over rated D back rather than the skins.
Your QB will either be Patrick "Inaccurate" Ramsey or Jason Campbell?
ramsey is not inaccurate. his completion percentage was just over 62%. considering he had no O line, and was throwing to a guy with a bum foot who couldnt get open to save his life and a guy whose own teammate nicknamed '50-50' because that was the odds of him catching any given pass thrown to him, i'd say 62 percent is excellent.

here's what was said about him coming out of college-
Very accurate throwing down the middle…His 58.9 pass completion percentage is topped only by Mike McKay (59.9%, 1981-82) in Green Wave annals…

try again.

btw- jake plummers completion percentage was 58.2%, almost 4 full points lower than ramseys, you flaming imbecile.
That adds up to about 3-13 bitches.
right...

Portis quietly had the 3rd best rushiing season ever by a Redskin running back last year.

Coles quit on this team last year. So did Gardner.

Take it as you will, This team will be better than last years team, despite the off season shit.

Gibbs isn't a dinosaur, and remember, he was known as "the master adjuster"

Go ahead and quote me on this.....

The Redskins will be a wildcard team this year, and host a playoff game.

Nope, they will win their division and have a bye week.

I'm serious. I'm not a Skins fan by any means, but I just feel something is going to explode down in DC offensively. And that defense is pure badass.

jim- patrick ramsey honestly has yet to show what he can really do. under spurrier, he was a heavy bag with those blocking shemes. last year, the o line was horrid and coles- the only WR with with 'big play' ability' was limping around on a bad toe. portis couldnt get a lane to run through with a banged up line so he was having to carry the team essentially with no weapons.

this year, he'll have a chance to do his thing. he'll have a line to block, a year in the system, and some better (that's right- better) WR's to throw to. barring another injury to jon jansen and company, he should do very well. remember what gibbs did with other ordinary QB's.

i'm not going so far as B smack, but i think they'll have at least a winning record this year. last year, if the O had scored just a few more points a game, they would have been in the playoffs. :o

Patrick Ramsey. What I saw of Ramsey in the Pittsburgh game last year was enough to convince me that he's got the goods. That O line can't possibly suck as badly as it did last year.
