22 Robert Plant & Allison Krauss - "The Battle of Evermore" (Live)

Wrong tempo. Shitty recording equipment. Singer way past his prime for that tune in that key. Just a horrible mess of a tune I usually like.

Great song, 1956. King Curtis on sax.
The timing was strange to me. The scatting and lyrics seemed rushed. My karaoke version is better than The Chips.

The answer to the question: What happens when you are trying to fill out a War themed set with some metal and you forgot Iron Maiden’s “Run To The Hills” is about War.

You flew too close to the sun my friend.

42 Grand Funk Railroad - "I'm Your Captain"

While generally considered one of the greatest rock songs ever, I can never get over the amount of repetition at the end of this song. We get it, you’re closer to home. STFU and add a solo or something or shut the whole thing down. HighPantyBunch, your thoughts?

Seriously? I’ve never been a fan of GFR, but that’s just me. They’re right up there with…uhh…Kansas? 70s throw-away power schlock rock.

If I heard song followed immediately by Dust in the Wind I’d be tempted to stick knitting needles through my eardrums.

Some people instead of many?

How about- Even though Smackie considers is good enough for TT, I think it’s shit?

Might have to play perhaps the ultimate song representing the style - Roky Erickson’s I Walked with a Zombie. Here are the lyrics:

I walked with a zombie last night (repeat 20+ times)

I appreciate Roky shortening the title of the song rather than using the whole first line. Brevity!

So here's the deal. It looks like this week's edition of TT will be spread over two nights - tonight and tomorrow. Tonight's segment is expected to start ~9 PM Eastern/6 PM Pacific/2 AM Zulu (possibly a few minutes late). Tomorrow's start time is TBD but may be an hour earlier than tonight's - will advise when better intel is available. Hope to see all the 'Townies in tunight!
