pics are deceiving, they don't hold a lot of filling
They probably would with a finer dice. Interesting concept, though. Definitely has potential for further exploration.

I've made something quite similar myself, several times.

Pretty much bombastic.

They sort of remind me of your meat loaf which I plan to try in the near future

Tomato, tomahto.

I've also made scads of burgers like that, though. I think over the years, I've learned that it's pretty hard to fuck up ground beef on a smoker -- takes effort. And stuffing shit rocks. And temperature doesn't matter -- too hot, too cold? Still grub, if you don't overcook it.

Is that an electric smoker with the smackoholic hanging from it? Brinkmann, per chance?

Ditch it and get a Brinkmann charcoal unit -- or something higher end.

I got a freebie ECB electric unit a few years ago. Gave it to a friend. Since I believe the only thing an electric is good for is salmon, thought it would be nice to have in the arsenal. But it got way too hot for fish, and putting a rheostat on it sounded like too much work (you know, like 10 minutes and $8 at the hardware store), so it got ditched.
