USC could beat NFL teams on occasion? Wow. These trojan fans are gettin' a wee bit big for their britches... All NFL teams? No. The worst of the NFL's expansion teams, vs last year's USC team, every once in a blue moon? Yep. The best college teams would not lose to the very worst and most dispirite...

Terry, I guess the impact of '77 was so great on my psyche that in my mind's eye this past Saturday was the first time since that horrific day that ND pulled that dastardly stunt against us... I'm not even an ND fan and still I got chills when I saw them coming out of the tunnel. Unbelieveably cool....

'Cept one team's normal strengths aren't diminished nearly as much as the other's by the possibility of high, loose footing... Theory being, if Reggie Bush and Dwayne Jarrett aren't confident in their ability to plant and make cuts and use their speed then the high turf will hurt USC's weapons more ...

Lax, my pecking order was always Morris, Csonka and then Kiick. Rightly or wrongly, I always viewed Kiick as a poor man's smaller, less badass Csonka. Terry, I wasn't going to name all the programs that were winning back when I got started but yeah, of course ND was there too. So was Alabama, obviou...

Mike, Vito was tossing up Young's passing statistics as a means of arguing that Leinart's not a better passing QB. Why else would he have posted those passing stats in response to my comments about Young as a passer, if not to bolster Young's credentials as a thrower? Otherwise, running QB's are col...

Perception Vince Young? He sure as hell hasn't silenced all the critics. He's still seen by many as a prototypically one dimensional, run first-throw (poorly) second Big XII QB who'll never even get a sniff of NFL stardom as a QB. Reality 93/138 passing (67.4%), 1357 yards, 12 TDs, 5 INTs 75 carrie...

Vito, of course you want to know, but what you'll be forced to find out instead is what your defense does when the rude realization hits them that they're figuratively and literally not in Kansas anymore and that Ohio State's offense couldn't match USC's second string offense. Playing nothing but a ...

smackaholic, hey, most little kids jump on their first bandwagon based on who was the dominant team at that time. Little kids aren't going to instinctively jump on the team that's getting pummeled, they're going to find themselves being attracted to winners. I grew up in L.A. and I was born in '64 s...

I don't think any sensible SC fans (no, it's not necessarily an oxymoron) are griping about injuries as a result of the intentional absurdly long grass. Nobody in their right mind would think ND planned to injure anybody with it. The gist of it is that ND is being accused of using their home field a...

Beyond that, Bush is obviously a unique talent. His explosiveness goes beyond game planning. He's a budding Barry Sanders, with more speed. Vince Young? He sure as hell hasn't silenced all the critics. He's still seen by many as a prototypically one dimensional, run first-throw (poorly) second Big X...

Lax, no doubt SC is now the Bandwagon team of choice. They win, they win consistently and they win with style. They're an attractive team and L.A. has always been Bandwagon Central for people who jump on the latest hot team. Fuck, how many Angel fans suddenly jumped out of the woodwork in 2002? Thin...

OU had a returning Heisman QB plus Adrian Peterson and a suppsedly incredible defense loaded with unmatched speed. They were straight up rolling everybody in their path, and they shut ...

Van you sound like a typical SoCal fan. Always looking for something to latch onto. I bet you were a UCLA fan back in 98, then you jumped on the Laker band wagon from 2k-2k3 and now you are a USC fan for life. Basically you sound like a front runner psudo-fan. You sound ignorant. Again, if USC gets to the Rose Bowl unscathed they're going to destroy Texas. Playing in the Big XII against an entire conference of offensive short bussers, Texas wouldn't have the slightest idea of how to defend USC in a bowl game. This year's Texas team is no better than last year's OU team. Last...

Seer, let's face it, when you were beating us neither team was worth a shotglass of room temperature piss. We couldn't even scare up enough angst to care, we were so mediocre. Beating UCLA has always been a birthright, not an achievement. If we win, we're cool with it. If we lose, we know we sucked ...

Off the top of my head, and taking into consideration all the circumstances surrounding this game, this was the best USC-ND game ever. Certainly it was the best in my lifetime. No two teams have more history when you combine them. It is so different from UCLA. You just hate UCLA. No Respect for UCLA. Exactly. I fucking loathe UCLA, and I've loathed them from when I was a little kid and didn't even know enough to loathe them. Even to a little eight year old kid in 1972 it ...

You're getting a little too hung up on who starts in the NFL and when they start and all these mythical talent based arguments... Carson Palmer could've easily started his rookie year. I agree it'd be a rare win but the argument of size and speed doesn't necessarily hold true in each and every instance. There are the occasional NFL offensive and defensive lines that are not bigger than some college lines. Also, there are the occasional NFL squads whose skill position players reall...

Dunno about that, Terry... If the spread is only 12 1/2 the oddsmakers are definitely giving ND more credit than most media types... I sort of expect USC to either lose (or barely win ugly) or to wake up and play a passionate four quarters and win in another demolition. I really don't think ND thems...

That, and perennially weak non conference scheduling and a perennially overrated conference which they feasted on year in and year out to build their overinflated reputation. Again, from that '95 team, only Ahman Green truly panned out. Grant Wistrom was decent for the Rams, but no world beater. Chr...
