Gorman is "one of the oldest continuously used trail and roadside rest stops in California," as the Native Americans of California "would have stopped there when it was the Tataviam village of Kulshra'jek" explains Mountain Communities historian Bonnie Ketterl Kane.
James Gorman Sr. gave his name to the rest stop in the Tejon Pass.

Gorman. Where my left knee blew out landing awkwardly after being thrown from a jeep mid-air. Buddy was driving he got a fractured pelvis. When the '46 Willy's finally stopped at the bottom of the ravine it was upside down and the rollbar was flush due to metal fatigue. Side of hill looked like a Christmas tree decorated with Coors Light cans. Surviving wreckless youth = winning.
