I'll still take requests by whatever means you can get them to me, but this can serve as an easy way to do it for the listeners who post here. You’re lucky. I’ve been a fan since 1972 or 73 when my friend’s band used to play Dixie Chicken. Unfortunately I never saw them with Lowell George. Saw them in Vegas when we lived in Henderson for five years in the 90s. Shaun Murphy was the lead singer and they were good but not comparable to the original. Sort of like the Dead without Jerry Garcia. I must have seen them a dozen or more times from 1972 until Jerry died. As much as I wanted to, and the offshoot bands have been really good, I couldn’t maintain any real interest after that. I still listen occasionally to the old stuff from both of those bands.

Actually saw them three nights in a row once at Winterland, 1974 I think. They had announced that they were going to stop touring, which they actually did for a couple of years. When they did come back it was without the massive “wall of sound,” which sounded great but took a couple of semis to transport. Apparently they actually had two of those sound systems because, when on tour, they needed to send one ahead to the next stop to get it set up in time. That was the run of shows that they made th movie from that came out 1977.

Similar experience to yours with the mind and mood enhancements.

Oh Mikey, that was a great run of shows to be at. Unfortunately, I didn't get to my 1st dead show until 1983. Saw them probably 25 or so times with a couple JGB & solo Bobby shows as well. I've seen all the iterations since and enjoyed them all to varying degrees.

Saw JGB once at the La Paloma theater in Encinitas CA, an old movie theater built in the 1920s that holds about 500 people. That was a great show.

I probably would have seen some of the post-Jerry iterations except that Mrs. Mikey is not a fan and all of my old Deadhead friends remain in the Bay Area, 600 miles from here. Seen some videos and did enjoy them. John Mayer is a great performer, just not Jerry .

These days, for live entertainment, I try to find performances that we both want to see. Sometimes that's a bit of a challenge.
