TuneTown Request Line

StrawMan, a relatively recent addition to the TT listening audience, suggested this thread as a means of communicating song requests. Seemed like a damn good idea. I'll still take requests by whatever means you can get them to me, but this can serve as an easy way to do it for the listeners who post here. The earlier you get 'em in before showtime, the greater the chance of their being played during the next show. Feel free to fill this bitch up!

Where do I submit a request for you to have Saturdays off? Do I need to call your supervisor?

Little Feat: "Old Folks Boogie"; "Don't Bogart That Joint" or anything else from the album, "Waiting for Columbus".

Thanks, Smackie!

Can’t you just play the best songs by the best bands?

Absolutely.
Also Dixie Chicken on Dixie Chicken.

Great version of that on the live album too, with Tower of Power horns.

Listening to this yesterday:

Also have a nice, well-recorded live set from the War Eagle Supper Club in Auburn. Sadly, even though they were still a really good band, that night was long after Lowell George left us.

Love me some Feat.

All great tunes! Glad to see so many Little Feat fans here. Saw them live three or four times and the last time was during Lowell George's last tour. Their stuff stills holds up well IMO.

You’re lucky. I’ve been a fan since 1972 or 73 when my friend’s band used to play Dixie Chicken. Unfortunately I never saw them with Lowell George. Saw them in Vegas when we lived in Henderson for five years in the 90s. Shaun Murphy was the lead singer and they were good but not comparable to the original. Sort of like the Dead without Jerry Garcia. I must have seen them a dozen or more times from 1972 until Jerry died. As much as I wanted to, and the offshoot bands have been really good, I couldn’t maintain any real interest after that. I still listen occasionally to the old stuff from both of those bands.

Good analogy, "Sort of like the Dead without Jerry Garcia," and I did the same as you. Never saw Little Feat post-Lowell George and never saw the Dead after Jerry died. I'm a little jealous over you seeing the Dead over a dozen times! I saw them at least five or six times, but only remember a few. Back then, I was majoring in poisoning myself with mass quantities of booze, weed, coke, 'shrooms, and acid.
Hmm... good times.

Actually saw them three nights in a row once at Winterland, 1974 I think. They had announced that they were going to stop touring, which they actually did for a couple of years. When they did come back it was without the massive “wall of sound,” which sounded great but took a couple of semis to transport. Apparently they actually had two of those sound systems because, when on tour, they needed to send one ahead to the next stop to get it set up in time. That was the run of shows that they made th movie from that came out 1977.

Similar experience to yours with the mind and mood enhancements.

Oh Mikey, that was a great run of shows to be at. Unfortunately, I didn't get to my 1st dead show until 1983. Saw them probably 25 or so times with a couple JGB & solo Bobby shows as well. I've seen all the iterations since and enjoyed them all to varying degrees.

Never got to see little feet 😕

Saw JGB once at the La Paloma theater in Encinitas CA, an old movie theater built in the 1920s that holds about 500 people. That was a great show.

I probably would have seen some of the post-Jerry iterations except that Mrs. Mikey is not a fan and all of my old Deadhead friends remain in the Bay Area, 600 miles from here. Seen some videos and did enjoy them. John Mayer is a great performer, just not Jerry  .

These days, for live entertainment, I try to find performances that we both want to see. Sometimes that's a bit of a challenge.

I envy you fukks that saw JGB. If I could get into a Time Machine to go see one band, it’d be either them or ABB. Think I’d go with JGB though.

But it’s my own damn fault as I grew up right in JGB land.

They’re talking Jerry Garcia, not J. Geils.

East Coast vs West Coast upbringing. I would like to have seen the “other” JGB as well. That would have been wicked pissah.

Good call, Mikey. Beautiful guitar work! A quick Los Lobos favorite: "Lil' King of Everything" off of "How Will the Wolf Survive"

For Smackie: 'Kiss Off", by Violent Femmes

For Robert Casale, aka "Bob 2" of DEVO, who died ten years ago today: "Girl U Want", off of "Freedom of Choice". RIP Bob 2
