Early Bama-Tejas Thread

Ran into a UT guy at lunch. Longhorns shirt and cap. From Austin and graduated from Texas. Nice guy for the most part. Very proud of his school. But the most cocksure sumbitch I’ve ever run into!

His comments:

Won’t matter who Bama plays at QB.

Bama will not be able to run at all.

We got 10 starters back on offense and 11 on D.

Our (UT) backup QB kept Arch Manning on bench. Much better than Arch.

Recruiting is thru the roof. Sarkisian is the best coach in the country.

Bama has no chance. It’ll be ugly.

UT is far better school than Vanderbilt.

I’m fine with being a homer, but he was over the top. I expect a tough game, but I’m confident the Tide wins.

UT - 16
Bama - 45

and it's not as close as the score would make it seem.

Bama fans are hoping Jalen Milroe can be the new Tim Tebow. If he continues to improve his passing, he can be a star. Just limit the turnovers big man and this year will be special. I feel really good about the D, especially if DBs Key and Moore can play Saturday. I expect the Tide to run the ball really well, in spite of my UT grad buddy’s lunch prediction last week that Bama won’t be able to run on UT at all. Milroe and Jase McClellan, both Texas natives, will each get a bunch.

Sam, you're giving Tejas too much credit.

Elephants - 45, North Mexico - 17

Whoo! Hope you’re right.

I thought we’d handle ‘em easily last year, though.

Massive OL. 5 RBs who all would be starting at most schools.

RUN THE BALL all night!

Roll Tide!

Right now I hate INTs, penalties, bad tackling…I can go on.

Bama fans are spoiled. We’ve had great QBing for so long…smart kids, no turnovers. That’s not what we have in Milroe. In addition to the picks, he threw too many other passes into spots he shouldn’t have. Great athlete, but not a top level college QB. As one Texas DB said after the game, “We knew he was a one read quarterback.”

This ain’t gonna work.

Texas beat Bama at the line of scrimmage, too. They dominated on both sides of the ball. That was shocking.

Could be a rough season.

might be Tommy Rees kinda sucks, too. Weird hire by NIck to me, at the time.

but, all that Sam (your post). Texas' DL is for real. Turnovers. and way too many UT WRs running free in Bama secondary when Sark dialed it up.

looked like he thought he could go over the top or downfield last year before Ewers got hurt. Came back to it.

"one read QB" quote is pretty rough, i agree.

Well, this one surprised me...

Tejas still goes on to lose at least 3 games...

Was Milroe really the best of that QB room, Sam??

It's not often Bama makes a QB look good...can't wait to see how OU does against Tejas this year...

Fan…singular. That kid should easily be IDed. And banned from all athletic events.

Drunks in the student section at every school do stupid shit, but this POS got caught. Ban him immediately.

The Texas people we’ve heard from said they were treated well and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. All it takes is one drunk punk to create a bad image.

Suggestion: don’t put visiting school fans anywhere near the student section.
