Honestly, my original reply was WGARA, but then I decided to use the google machine and went with the first thing I recognized.

Did the same with Joni Mitchell.

Prolly should have just been honest/lazy and went with WGARA.

Might not agree with all your picks, but they are decent.

Joni Mitchell was so prolific in the late 60s and 70s that her "signature" song for any individual might be what was current when you first became fully aware of her genius. I was certainly aware of her before 1974, when I was 18 (at least in the first half of the year) but was not that big of a fan. When Court and Spark came out I was just totally blown away. This woman, who I thought was basically a folk singer, produced something completely unprecedented as far as combining jazz/folk/rock into a coherent group of incredibly written songs. The combination of musicians she put together for that album was just amazing, including three musicians from the group that had recently in the previous couple of years gotten me interested in jazz. Joe Sample, Larry Carlton and Wilton Felder from the Crusaders.

So my signature song for her would probably be Help Me, or Free Man in Paris. Or any song from that album.

Or California...or anything from Blue.

Suit yourself. I've always known that there's no accounting for taste.

At a minimum, I would add Cream to that list. Of course, I'd drop JM. Nothing wrong with her, or many of the others on the list. Just not my cup of tea.

Yep, Cream had a bunch of great tunes and sounds, really leading the way. But when it came to "jamming," or seeking to emulate that into which Jimi had fully connected--which was Wes squared, along with Errol Garner and Trane--Clapton was reduced to tedious droning on both live Cream albums.

Joni is simply a force of nature, including the phenomenon of the human ego. And she's the best poet on the list by far.
