You're right. He does sound like a good dad, aside from not being married to mom. But in some cases, that is unavoidable.

It's everything else that he sucks at.

True, but I said "tastier" which is less subjective.
Bullshit.

Tasty, tastier, tastiest are all equally subjective.

You do understand the definition of the root word, don't you? In fact it could be argued that modifying the root word increases its subjectivity.

Tell someone that just dropped 4 figures on a bottle of Chateau-something-or other, that the contents of his bottle are not "tastier" than a table grape fro the local supermarket and he will laugh at you.

BTW, I think wine snobs like you and 88 are a little silly in your purchases of expensive grape squeezings, but then you might say the same when I spend a grand on a used bicycle like I did a short time ago.

Different strokes for different folks.

I'm sorta like you, mostly in the $20.00 to $30.00 range (more like $15 when I go to Costco). Sometimes higher from the wine clubs maybe up to $60.00 on a few special bottles.

My wife doesn't drink and I can usually make a bottle last for 2-3 nights at 2 glasses with dinner.

That's less than a lot of my cellmates at work spend on Starbucks, which I don't indulge in.

COVID-19 Food Porn Thread

Post by smackaholic »

Gotta wonder how many formerly helpless people, culinarily speaking, are now being forced to actually prepare food at home and may come to the realization that cooking....

....isn’t rocket surgery.

.....saves an assload of money.

.....is actually kind of fun, and the more you do it, the funner it gets.

.....and lastly, the feeling of pleasure you get from having something you created actually come out good. And when you do it for others, that pleasure multiplies.....even for in-laws.

Yes, it sucks about Mrs. Mikey not being able to enjoy the vino. She really likes it, probably as much as I do, but feels like it no longer agrees with her delicate digestive system. I think she's a bit jealous when I have a glass but fortunately understands that it's about the only indulgence I have left, and not about to give it up until I'm dead and buried. She'll often pick up my glass and just sniff it.

That is truly a bummer for her. I have a sister-in-law that has self-determined that wine is not her friend. I feel sad for her too.

Saw your Tobin James at the wine shop today.
As a matter of fact I got my Spring shipment from Tobin James last week. Opened a bottle of their Syrah tonight. If I remember right you belong at Ridge. I’ve been picking up an occasional bottle of their Three Valleys from our local market. Good stuff, and more in my price range than the Monte Bello.

You really are one thick headed cunt.

Are you saying that "comparing" is by definition objective?

It isn't, necessarily. And when it comes to "taste", it is most definitely subjective.

I will make a few objective observations.

You are a dumbfukk.

I knew you'd go down that road, you tedious little cunt.

We are talking about things that are regularly eaten, for enjoyment, by sane individuals.

What about an IPA and a Stout?

Perfectly normal people will think one tastes better than the other. Some will prefer the Stout, some the IPA.

This is what is called a preference of taste.

There really is no debate here among sane people.

I'm done with you on this topic. Go away.

Define sane.

I’ve met 88 and his lovely wife.

As sane as they come IMO.

Mikey, aside from his political views also appears sane.

Both of them admit to spending more than I ever would, on wine.

Why do you continue with your insane opinions?

If it’s to display your mad debating skills, you’ve failed miserably.

Objection- assumes facts not in evidence. I don’t think either one has ever said they think wine is tastier than grape juice.

88 and mikey both admit to paying a fair bit of money for bottles of wine. Pretty sure they have both stated 30 dollars and a good bit more.

I do regularly buy various fruit juices. I'm partial to cranberry, myself. Typically comes in bottles larger than most wine bottles, yet I never recall paying more than 5 bucks for one.

So, my "evidence" that 88, mikey and millions of other folks around the globe think good wine is tastier is ample.

Nearly as ample as the evidence you are a tedious, contrarian cunt with defective taste buds.

And IB, just shut up about alcohol content. I can buy fortified wine at grape juice prices. BFD. Believe it or not, some people drink alcoholic beverages without the slightest concern of its ability to get them fukked up. When I have a good IPA with dinner, I generally have one. Because nothing washes down a good savory dinner better. If it is an 8% pint, I'll feel it a bit. A 5% 12 oz can, not at all.

Not everyone on the planet is an alcoholic.

Question for you wine snob douches.

The OL and I are your typical low end recreational winos. Whatever Barefoot has on sale for 10 bucks that is on the sweetside, is typically what we drink. Reisling, Moscato, etc...

I am interested in stepping up my wino game a notch. What would you recommend?

Maybe 20-30 dollar range.

Will I have to drink barrels of it to "get it"?

Do we really need any more evidence than this that wine is not tasty? You had to trick your mind to like it? I can see if you said you did not like tomatoes as a kid and now you do, but you were a grown asses man and you hated it. Once again, if it had no alcohol you NEVER would have put yourselves thru that.

See that queerland?

People’s tastes vary.

In other words, taste is subjective.

In addition to this, taste can vary over time through experience. And more complex tastes are generally learned.

Sadly I don’t have a wine distributor neighbor, so I prolly should just stick with Barefoot. My desire to become a wine douche is outweighed by my desire to remain financially healthy.

All taste is not subjective. We have established that. And it was his desires not tastes that changed. He, like you, desired to like wine. In his case, he tricked his mind to think his tastes had improved or expanded. Poppy cock. He wanted to get drunk and fit in with his friends.

Taste is best paired with memory. So you're right.
Taste changes as one ages, you're also right on that.

It wasn't the alcohol, it was the social setting.
