"Mad" Mike Hughes, 64, crash-landed his steam-powered rocket shortly after take-off near Barstow on Saturday.

A video on social media shows a rocket being fired into the sky before plummeting to the ground nearby.

Hughes was well-known for his belief that the Earth was flat. He hoped to prove his theory by going to space.

Dude shoulda known he would just bounce off the firmament and stuff.

I have commented on Hughes before, and if the *SEARCH* function was functional, I would pull that up now.

I have had no regard for "him," and have not cared about his words or exploits.

I spent a couple of years extensively researching this topic.
My experience has been that the "flat earthers," generally speaking, are BY FAR the more curious group.
They tend to seek after solid science to support an Earth shape.

The globe adherents, as a group, tend to be very dogmatic, condescending, and insistent that their Earth model is correct, even when legitimate facts are presented which directly contradict their assumptions.

The globers frankly tend to melt quite badly when their assumptions are challenged.


That has been my experience.
