Cool pics. I love Lake Tahoe. Tend to spend more time there in the winter but summer looks awesome.

Do your self a favor one night and head to Cafe Fiore in South Lake Tahoe. Food is great, wine is amazing and the drive down from Tahoe City don’t suck either.

If we get down there I’ll definitely check it out. My brother owns a house here and he’s up here with his family plus my brother in law and various nieces and nephews and other extended family. A total of maybe 20 people.

Took a drive to Donner Lake and then up old Hwy 40 to Soda Springs. On the way up you can see the long snow sheds that were built to protect the original Transcontinental Railroad. The retaining wall in front is known as the “China Wall” for obvious reasons.



The huge granite slab is covered in part by ancient petroglyphs.



There were several rock climbers on the large vertical wall to the left.

I have a brother who lives in Truckee and another in Reno. Been up that road on the Donner pass a few times.

Did you happen to stop by FiftyFifty in Truckee?

We tried to stop for lunch in Truckee on Sunday on our way in, but there were literally no empty parking spaces in town. Apparently it’s a real zoo on weekends. Didn’t have time to check it out when we were down there on Tuesday.

My brother and nephew, and nephew’s wife, are knuckledragging right wing knee jerk morons when it comes to politics. Sister in law is way left but somehow gets along with my brother. In my immediate family I’m probably the least lefty. The rest is a mix, including a niece and her husband who live in SLC and sort of left wing environmentalist outdoor types - wilderness camping, rock climbing and stuff.

We’ve had a few go fuck yourselves in the past but we somehow find a way to get along. Blood is way thicker than politics. When my nephew brings up some RW talking point he heard on Faux News - like there are more Guatemalans in the US than in Guatemala - I just sort of say “wow you’re kidding I never knew that” while thinking “dumbass” to myself.
