I was unaware of this local ballot measure in SFO until our local news had an interview with a homeless man from NY. He stated he was on his way to SFO where they passed a new tax on companies with gross receipts over $50 million. He said he was done with bad east coast weather and mediocre services for homeless in the South and Midwest. Dude says he is Cali or bust.

Big shout out SFO for passing this and making your city even more attractive to the mentally ill homeless population. Here’s hoping you get them the help they need vs just making yourself feel better that you did something.

Feds? Screw that, I am all in on local government buying them bus fare. Certainly cheaper than providing the mental health help so many of them need.

The cops around here have there own local version of this. The City makes some kind of deal to get the local transit bus tickets free or reduced price. They give them to the patrol officers by the fucking briefcase full. The street cops give them to the homeless/ tweakers/criminals / midget lawyers and tell them to get the fuck out of town and don't come back for a month at least or your ass goes to jail. This works well in keeping the shit bag population moving around from city to city so that they can burden social services systems and make the cops do shit work evenly in towns around the west end of our county.

Hell yeah, send them our way, we have plenty of money,

We just passed propositions to authorize $4,000,000,000 in bonds for veterans housing (Prop 1), $2,000,000,000 in bonds for mental health housing (Prop 2), and $1,500,000,000 in bonds for grants to privately operated "children's hospitals" (Prop 4). As a bonus, by 2022, every single egg they will eat, and everyone else in the state is going to come from a cage free chicken.

I'll see if I can get Pelosi, Feinstein, and Harris to welcome you at the border.

With all the additional influx of the homeless ilk likely to occur, the question is: will there be enough tax collected to clean up all the extra needles and piles of sheee-attt?

Not a problem, we will pass a proposition in 2019 to authorize another 5 billion dollars of general obligation bonds to fund training of all the homeless people to become unionized municipal employees such that they can learn how to clean up after themselves. Exorbitant existing bond payments, and correcting unfunded pension liabilities will take care of themselves once that pesky proposition 13 gets repealed.

Sure— as long as the person was an ass bandit who loved getting his shit packed regularly. And seeing the fecal reputation SF has been earning as of late, the finishing move would be a rusty trombone. :o

Mikey, i'm curious as to what your take was on that Bonsall school bond that went down in flames.

I didn't get to vote on that because we're in the Fallbrook Union High School District, and Bonsall is a separate district. I'm not sure where the border is but probably within 1/4 mile of my house.

There was a lot of signage out for this initiative and a lot of emotional back-and-forth on some of the local social media.

There's some local history involved and, personally, I would have voted against it.

The Bonsall students used to go to Fallbrook HS, until a few years ago (can't remember how long but still when my kids were there) they passed a bond and built a combined middle school / high school (Sullivan MS and Bonsall HS are co-located) a few miles south of SR76 on Lilac Road. This siphoned off a lot of kids from Fallbrook HS, when the enrollment was already going down, and amounted to a big financial hit on Fallbrook.

The designated piece of land, off Gird Road and north of SR76, is actually in Fallbrook. This land was set aside something like 80 years ago (maybe less) for future use, at a time when nobody knew that the districts would ever split. Legally there isn't really any difference between Bonsall and Fallbrook because they're both unincorporated parts of SD County, so they are under the same jurisdiction. But the Bonsall School District did split off from Fallbrook at some time or other. At the time the land was in an empty rural zone, but now is surrounded by houses. I don't think the Fallbrook residents in the neighborhood would really have welcomed a new HS with all its traffic and other implications, serving a community that they are not even part of.

Some of the folks in Bonsall want a new HS, even though their kids already have a new facility. I guess they feel that the HS should be separate from the MS. One reason cited is that the current campus is very close to where the Lilac Fire started and people felt it was too slow to evacuate in that area. I'm not so sure about that. So they floated this $38 million (I think) bond issue to build the new school. I think they had a similar bond voted down a few years ago. My understanding is that the $38 million was only for construction of the new campus and didn't include staffing, maintenance or anything else, and would have required an additional $70 million or so before actually opening. Also, it was apparently heavily backed by the designated developer who would have been the GC.

My feeling is that the Bonsall residents were being sold a bill of goods and that the land would be much better used for a different purpose. Like part of the San Luis Rey River Park, which is in the planning and acquisition stage and will eventually extend from Oceanside to I15 through the San Luis Rey River valley. The school land is contiguous with the eventual parkland.

Just my 2 cents. Like I said, we had no vote on this.

My town had a referendum vote to add a turf field(s) at the town HS.

There was some dude in an Ellington Lacrosse jacket outside with an “ask me about the turf” sign.

So I asked him.

Turf dude: there’s a 1.5 mil grant. Total cost. 2.6 mil

Me: ahhhh, I see. Good thing the state/feds have plenty of cash sitting around.

Turf dude: uhhhhhh, well, if we don’t take it, someone else will.

Me: yah, I know, but I just hate that shit. Our state’s broke. The fed government’s broke. So, what’s the yearly maintenance for landscaping?

TD: 48k

Me: OK. Thanks.

I then walked in to fill out my ballot. Rack my town for actually expecting me to produce an ID. I quickly did the mathematical calculations and decided that the 2.6 mill would produce revenue enough to pay the 50k in maintenance forever.

I voted no to turf

The other town question was to add a 6k sq ft addition to the town hall.

I thought about it for a minute.

Sure, the town has grown. But what does the town do at townhall?

They shuffle paper, mostly.

They were able to do this in the existing space for about a century.

Think about this. How much space is needed? How many filing cabinet can now fit on a smart USB memory stick?

Fukk off, Ellington. Figure out how to make your existing space work. I voted against that too.

They're talking about Fallbrook. Which is roughly 500 miles from San Francisco. Why are you so retarded?
