Welcome back Sam!

Fitting that you've make the first BTPCFB post this summer.

I'm really anticipating this season as well.

Stanford has the Heisman favorite at RB, and a stable of very capable backups; an up and coming soph QB who showed real potential last year; plus probably the best group of WRs and TEs in the Pac 12 and at least near the top in CFB. The entire OL is back from last season. Yet they're still expected to finish behind UDub in the Pac 12 north, mainly because of an apparent lack of depth on D. The schedule is very front loaded, starting out with SDSU (who beat them last year) and then USC, Oregon and Notre Dame in the next four weeks. If they can get through that stretch alive they should have some pretty good confidence playing at Washington four weeks later. The defense has some good players returning but not a lot of additional experience. If they can gel it might be a season to remember.

Love has some incredible jets. It doesn't hurt running behind the Tunnel Workers Union.

The first run they show here (at 1:15) against ASU, when he went for 301 yards, pretty much typified last season.

An entire college football season has to get played before someone wins the Heisman Trophy, but no college football has to get played for us to speculate together about contenders. Bookmakers at offshore sportsbook BetOnline released preseason Heisman odds for a couple dozen players in 2018. Let’s meet the top 11, quickly.

Bryce Love, Stanford RB (5/1)

Stanford could be really good, and you have to be on a great team to win the Heisman. It was a little surprising when Love skipped the NFL Draft to return to Palo Alto for his senior season, but it’s a good bet that he’ll put up huge numbers. Love’s patient-but-punchy running style makes him a great fit behind Stanford’s always-bruising offensive line.

Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin RB (13/2)

Taylor is a lot like Love: a talented, versatile back who runs behind a beefy front that helps him put up huge numbers on a team that should win a lot of games.

In the old days we might have been able to see a showdown between Taylor and Love in Pasadena on 1/1/19.

Still could, I guess.

8-5 will be great if it includes a win over Bammer.

It would be better for my team if one of those 5 was UDub...

But fuck that. Go Auburn!

Hard to say, and it all depends on what you're comparing.

One of them does have a 2000 yard season under his belt.

Seriously, it's not that long 'til we can get into it again. Looking forward to a VERY good year of BTCFB. Clemson, Ohio State, Bama, Auburn, OU, Georgia...even Texas should be fired up.

Central Florida needs to take down their bullshit banners and throw their rings into the Atlantic or the gulf or whatever coast they're on. They should be embarrassed to have done all that.

LSU's in serious trouble. Tough schedule.

Why is Michigan getting all this love? Sure they have a good QB in Shea Patterson, but they've never won anything. I don't understand the constant UM drumbeat over the years.

Anyway...I'm freakin' ready for some football.

Oh, yeah, I watched the 4th quarter and OT of the NC game the other night. UA won again.

Damn, you're right. I forgot they are in Orlando.

Watched part of their championship game again yesterday. I understand them having some fun with the pretend nat'l championship thing, but c'mon. The Knights no more deserved to be in the playoff than Indiana or K-State or Vanderbilt. That team would have been a 5 loss team in the B1G, SEC, ACC, Big12, or even the PAC12. Even with an 8 team field, if the best 8 teams were included, UCF wouldn't have sniffed the playoff.
Bill Snyder had 2 or 3 teams good enough to make a 4 team playoff. if things broke his way. i think you could make a pretty good argument that his 2000 team that lost to eventual champ Oklahoma twice....was the 2nd best team in the country that year. they destroyed Tennessee in whatever bowl game that was. those guys were killers.

here in round 2 of Snyder, he's winning games with punt teams and 2 star recruits. he had a top 10 team a couple years ago. no business being in your Vandy/IU comparison. unless this is 1980.

The Mora era has mercifully ended. There's at least a trickle of anticipation with Chip at the helm but with a dearth of talent expectations are measured. As with most fans I am hopeful for some over achievement but if the coaching world hasn't caught up with Kelly's schtick the Bruins are a few years out.

Regardless, it will be nice having sports on tv soon that can stir passions.

There's reason for optimism is A2 this year. Don Brown has a LOADED defense, this group will be near the top again. The hope is that we've landed an actual D1 quarterback in Ole Miss transfer Shea Patterson. If any of you caught the Amazon series that followed the team last year you surely saw that Pep Hamilton had top two (jury is still out on Peters) that were gigantic pussies. With Johnny O and Speight and their tampax out of the qb room and Patterson reportedly taking control of the huddle, a competent offense will serve to keep Brown's boys fresh.

So what does the season hold? Michigan has a brutal schedule, but they always will since they reside in the toughest division in the sport. Road games against ND, MSU, and OSU are daunting. Home games with PSU, Whisky, and Nebraska are no picnic either. If they win four of those games including at the Shoe, I will consider the season a success. But like every year with Brown, the defense will keep us in every game, so a decent qb that keeps the chains moving will be invaluable.

I've had a very busy (and entertaining) summer, and it just dawned on me the season is less than a month away. Ho...lee...shit.

Michigan State returns I believe 41 out of 44 guys from the 2-deep including QB and all specialists, so yeah, I'm pretty excited to see what this team can do. The B1G East is gonna be a meatgrinder though.

Notre Dame is returning pretty much everyone of note on defense with the exception of Jay Hayes at DE and Nyles Morgan at MLB. MLB should be fine with Drue Tranquill moving over, but someone has to fill Tranquill's shoes at Rover.

Offense, they lose two top ten picks on the left side, the leading rusher and the leading WR. The WR shouldn't be that big of a loss because he was a lazy route runner and a gigantic pussy. The Oline should still be solid, but they will obviously take a step back this year. The offense will live and die with Brandon Wimbush. He's a very similar player in terms of size and style to Dak Prescott. ND fans are really hoping he takes the same leap that Prescott took between his Soph and Jr years. If Wimbush can be a high 50's or even low 60's percent passer, ND's offense should hum along.

But I'm not counting on any of that because of Brian Kelly. If he manages to beat Michigan, ND could have 10-11 wins as their schedule, while difficult, sets up pretty nicely. UofM, Stanford and FSU (in November with a new coach) all at home and VaTech, USC on the road. With teams like Northwestern and Navy also on the schedule. If he loses to UofM, ND will reach absolute Kelly and top out at 8-5.

Can't wait for a minimum of 3 more years of this shit.
