Conf title games...in game

Scoop score for OU and then another quick score and this is 17-0 OU in the first.

Can’t imagine OSU fans are all that happy with this one.

TCU is sticking around, not sure if they’ll be able to slow down the OU offense (especially if the refs keep missing some reasonable holding calls).

I have a hard time rooting against the Sooners. I like their fans, I like how they play. They would certainly make the playoff exciting this year if they made it.

I’d rather the Buckeyes taken care of business at home back in Septemeber than have to hope for OU to lose in December.

And OU scores with a few minutes remaining in the half to push it back to 10 points.

Not sure exactly plays you are thinking are holds, but it looks pretty evenly officiated as far as holding goes from my end.

UCF-Memphis is pretty wild. UCF has a linebacker with only one hand, and he's flying around the field making plays.

Agreed. This game is reminding me of the old WAC.

Can he play receiver?

Overtime in Orlando. First two snaps have had fouls that a Blind person could call. Talk about tight.

If it goes to the third OT, and UCF scores 8, then Memphis turns it over, UCF can still cover.

Doesn't sound likely.

If anyone has noticed, the ticker is showing some basketball scores lower than this game.

I thought so also, having the same crew working together has to be a major plus.

This. Post season officials should be selected as a crew not as all stars.

Love seeing in the crawl about Frost taking the Nebraska job while the UCF game is still going...and even better is seeing ESPN have to credit Brett McMurphy for breaking the story.

Low-scoring and penalty-filled...that's what we love to see.

Decent game so far. Thought the OPI call was solid. That isn’t called enough.

I’d venture to guess that Auburn’s star RB has a shoulder stinger. I remember Clarett at OSU had the same thing and it hindered him for most of the season.

Not to rinse/repeat Nessler & Danielson, but Auburn’s offense is a little stale when he’s not stiff arming dudes.

Well, shit.

Now Gus will go to Arky and Auburn will have to go to the boneyard to find a coach.

Georgia looks plenty motivated. You get thumped in a game and you get a chance to avenge the loss...this is a quality performance. I'm good with seeing this version of Georgia in the playoff.

Interesting now, how things look to be lining up. Assuming that Clemson and OSU win tonight, if the committee selects OSU over Bama and USC as the 4th team in, then the only probable semifinal matchups are either OSU vs Clemson (rematch of last year’s lobsided game) or OSU vs Oklahoma (rematch of earlier season lobsided game).

Wonder if that would factor into the process and make it that much easier to take Bama. Or maybe the Badgers will make it a moot point here in a few hours. :?

How much will margin of victory matter tonight? If Ohio State wins big...is that good enough? Or does that just prove Wisconsin was a fraud and it's a huge negative for the overall strength of the B1G?

The Buckeyes only have themselves to blame if that Iowa loss ends up being the difference between them and Alabama getting in. To me, there's no shame in that Oklahoma loss when you look at the big picture and you see how good the Sooners have been this year. The blowout loss to Iowa gives the committee a reason to look past Ohio State.

I don't really want to see 8 teams in a playoff but it's stuff like this that keeps that idea alive. I get that this isn't hoops where a conference title is an automatic bid.

It's not that difficult... if you're an idiot.

USC has a better 2 loss resume than tOSU. Both of their losses were on the road against current top 25 teams (which were ranked higer at the time of both losses), including a Thursday night bullshit game.

So, Wisky wins, they should be in. If they lose, USC should go.

I've had great uncertainty, but my gut has been telling me Clemson for a couplefew weeks now.

The other half of my gut is telling me not to bet against Baker Mayfield. OU has a swagger right now, because of him. I never count that out. Won't count on it much, either.

Let's get it on.

The correct answer is U$C deserves the 4th slot by any measurement against aOSU. Bama did not win their own conference, let alone their own division and played Mercer which should an auto eliminator.

At this point, Bama's only quality win this year was Fresno State.

Let that sink in for a minute or two.

I don't think OU can play with Clemson.
That D is just too nasty.
I think this is the year Venables takes a HC job.

Food for thought...

Non-Conference Records:
Alabama (3-0) (4th game against Mercer)
USC (2-1) (lost by 35 at Notre Dame)
Ohio State (2-1) (lost by 15 vs. Oklahoma)

Best Non-Conference Win:
Alabama over Fresno State (9-4) (would've been Florida State in a normal year)
USC over Texas/Western Michigan (both 6-6)
Ohio State over Army (8-3)

Best Conference Road Win:
Alabama over Mississippi State/Texas A&M (both finished 4-4 in conference)
USC over Arizona State (finished 6-3 in conference)
Ohio State over Michigan (finished 5-4 in conference)

Losses at Home:
Alabama (0)
USC (0)
Ohio State (1: Oklahoma)

Average Margin of Loss:
Alabama (12: 12-point loss to Auburn)
USC (19: 3-point loss to Washington State, 35-point loss to Notre Dame)
Ohio State (23: 15-point loss to Oklahoma, 31-point loss to Iowa)

Road/Neutral Site Record: (includes Conference Championships)
Alabama (4-1)
USC (3-2)
Ohio State (5-1)

Wins Over 6-Win Teams:
Alabama (7: Florida State, Fresno State, Colorado State, Mississippi, Texas A&M, LSU, Mississippi State)
USC (8: Western Michigan, Stanford (twice), Texas, Utah, Arizona State, Arizona, UCLA)
Ohio State (5: Army, Penn State, Michigan State, Michigan, Wisconsin)

Wins Over 10-Win Teams:
Alabama (0)
USC (0)
Ohio State (2: Penn State, Wisconsin)

Conference Championship Results:
Alabama (n/a)
USC (win over Stanford by 3)
Ohio State (win over Wisconsin by 6)

If Ohio State wasn't crushed at Iowa...I don't even think we're having a debate.

Then again, if USC wasn't crushed at Notre Dame...would we be having this discussion?

I think there's blemishes for each resume...it just depends on what you value most. Alabama is out if you value the conference championships but they finished with only 1-loss. Alabama's loss wasn't as bad the average losses by USC and Ohio State. Ohio State had the best wins but had the fewest wins over 6-win opponents.

Whomever they choose, they're obviously the #4 seed. I think Clemson, Oklahoma and Georgia are easy choices at 1-2-3.

until Darth Snyder started lobbying for his son in Manhattan, i thought Brent V was holding out for K State. i wish the guy well. he lived around the corner from my Dad in Norman and a good guy.

i tend to agree about Clemson i think. i still don't know how good the Sooners are....pretty diluted season of teams 2017.....the better games of the late Stoops era, the D stepped up in big games where they could make the other team's O one dimensional (and the O staked them to a lead). i could see that happen in one of these playoff games. but, i could also see the scenario where the run game gets stuffed by a legit front 7 and OU is full blown Texas Tech air raid for 3 1/2 interminable quarters. too many 3 and outs, other team controls TOP.

i was pretty surprised by the UGA-Auburn game.

not at all surprised by Miami tanking the last two big games. not a believer.

i thought tOSU was in like some others. winning the Big would be enough. i guess being #1 all year counts for something (Bama) and those 50+ points in Iowa City turned out to be too much.

as a Sooner fan i'd rather be playing UGA than Bama or Clemson. doesn't mean much since you got to win two games.....but, hey.

I think it was that epic tilt in late November against the powerhouse of Mercer, that put Bama over the top. Ohio State should've scheduled them instead of Oklahoma.

I like an eight team playoff. Conference Champs from the power 5, and 3 at large. Win your conference and you've got a chance.
