Good Riddance To

One Of The Worst Wild-Card Weekends In NFL History

Probably can make a case for the entire season too.

A purist might say that the NFL is set up perfectly right now to have a playoff system with NO wildcard teams.

Four divisions in each conference.
Win your division and you are -----> IN.
A perfect 8 team bracket.

If a team in your own division topped you, on what basis should you get into postseason?

Of course there are reasons presented for wildcard entries.

1. A team catches fire in the 2nd half of the season and even though they might have struggled early in the year, now at the end they are playing great and should have a shot at it.

2. One division is loaded. Like a 14-2 division winner and another team at 12-4. Maybe the 12-4 is better than any of the other division winners. How can they be kept OUT and other lesser record teams let IN?

But the true reason for the wildcard entries are...

1. Money
2. Money

The league makes more revenue by having wildcard games -- and by having more teams still in contention late into the year, more late season games have importance to them.

Myself, I'd be okay with it if there were no wildcard teams.
WIn your division or sit down and shut up.
